Northrop Grumman is hiring an Industrial Engineer/Principal Industrial Engineer to support our Tactical Space Systems Division located in Dulles, VA.  The Industrial Engineer maintains a look-ahead schedule of Workcenter delivery dates and resource requirements for subassembly manufacturing; analyzes and designs sequence of operations and work flow to improve efficiencies in plant and production facilities and equipment layouts; and establishes methods for maximum utilization of production facilities and personnel. Conducts studies pertaining to cost control, cost reduction, inventory control, and production record systems. On the basis of these studies, develops and implements plans and programs for facility modifications and revisions to operating methods.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Leads or supports the integrated product team in developing, testing, and disseminating a look-ahead schedule of resource utilization, staffing, durations, and schedules.

  • Drives and supports the continuous improvement of manufacturing processes and digital workflows.

  • Supports digital transformation activities.

  • Helps determine the most efficient sequence of operations and provides finite scheduling to the manufacturing work center.

  • Data domain expert;  Forms justification and relationships necessary to gain access to data, curates and maintains datasets, and generates metrics that provide for the measurement of program & functional schedule & cost performance.

  • Develops and deploys plans that ensure the timely availability and effective utilization of labor, facilities, equipment, & tooling resources enabling the achievement of program delivery and cost milestones.

  • Develops and summarizes analyses for the acquisition, maintenance & enhancement of capital assets and miscellaneous equipment. Plans plant, office, and production facilities and equipment layouts.

  • Provides capacity planning and rate tool analyses.

  • Conducts studies pertaining to cost control, cost reduction and inventory control.

  • Establish or assist in establishing accident prevention measures and may manage training programs for personnel concerning all phases of production operations.

  • May assist facilities engineers in the planning and design of facilities.

  • Manages multiple projects simultaneously.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree with 9 or more years of engineering, manufacturing, or data analysis experience; OR a Master’s Degree with 7 or more years of engineering, manufacturing, or data analysis experience; Or 10 year of engineering, manufacturing, or data analysis experience in lieu of a degree.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in an Aerospace, ISO, AS9100, and ITAR environments.

  • Documented experience working in a robust manufacturing environment

  • Strong expertise using the full suite of Microsoft Office Tools

  • Experience in computer systems such as MES, Deltek Costpoint, TipQA, PTC Windchill, Tableau, SyncManufacturing, Minitab, MATLAB, Python, SQL, Powerquery, SharePoint, Excel


Salary Range: $117,700 USD - $176,500 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
