The Propulsion Engineering team is hiring for a Propulsion Engineering Manager 1 professional located at our Chandler, AZ location.
Position Overview
The Propulsion Engineering Manager will play a key role in support of vehicle development and production at the Launch Vehicles business unit. This position will have supervisory and technical oversight in support of the Sentinel Propulsion Engineering efforts.
Essential Functions
The role requires oversight of a team of engineers and interfaces daily with senior management, program management, and internal or external customers.
Job Responsibilities
Duties include but are not limited to the following activities: personnel work assignments, goal setting, performance evaluation, coaching, coordinating program efforts, and technical oversight. Team development, including training and mentoring are central elements of this role. Responsibilities will also include assisting the senior management team with hiring, salary planning, and other duties as requested.
Ability to work within, lead, or develop a team as required by the situation
Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to present to a large customer community (internal or external)
Ability to solve problems, lead troubleshooting efforts, drive tasks to completion
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and juggle multiple concurrent projects and priorities
Ability to evaluate trade studies and present results to senior management
Project management experience preferred
Prior management experience a plus
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering 5 years of related experience or Masters Degree and 3 years of experience
Ability to obtain a DoD Government Secret Security clearance
Ability to travel 10%
Preferred Qualifications
Subject matter expertise with solid rocket motors and/or ordnance
Project Management
Active DoD Government Secret/TS Security Clearance
