Are you looking for a rewarding and challenging career as a Principal/Sr Principal Mechanical Digital Transformation Engineer that can be located in Northridge, CA or in Tucson, AZ?  If so, then Northrop Grumman Defense Systems may be the employer for you!

We are currently seeking Principal/Sr Principal Mechanical Digital Transformation Engineer who will research, plan, design, develop, and document mechanical and electromechanical components and assemblies and assist the department during a crucial digital transformation process as part of Northrop Grumman’s Stand-in Attack Weapon (SiAW).

In this role, you will work with the Lead Design Engineer and IPT Leads in developing innovative strategies and model-based applications. You will also coordinate with CM and other departments in implementing digital transformation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interface with SiAW program leadership.
  • Drive culture change to establish the capabilities of a digital enterprise in support of mechanical design efforts from concept development to vehicle build and testing.
  • Support site digital transformation initiatives
  • Work with IPT leads and tool development managers to evolve a level of process knowledge
  • Mentor and lead less experienced staff in developing and implementing digital engineering solutions in an Agile environment.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Principal Mechanical Digital Transformation Engineer requires a minimum of Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) and 5 years of related experience to include a background in design, analysis and/or engineering tools development discipline OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of related experience to include a background in design, analysis and/or engineering tools development

  • Sr. Principal Mechanical Digital Transformation Engineer requires a minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) and 9 years of related experience to include a background in design, analysis and/or engineering tools development discipline OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 7 years of related experience to include a background in design, analysis and/or engineering tools development
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.
  • Familiarity with ASME Y14.41.
  • Experience with digital integration of various engineering tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with PTC Creo (7.0 is preferred) and Windchill.
  • Familiarity with NX.
  • Experience with Teamcenter.
  • PMI Certification as a Disciplined Agile Scrum Master (DASM) or Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP).
  • Experience with ASME Y14.5.
  • Experience with CCA design and/or fabrication.
  • Experience with Machining (Mill, Lathe, Router, etc...).
  • Experience with additive manufacturing (3D Printing, Rapid Prototyping, etc...).
  • Experience with structural and/or thermal analysis using both hand-calculations and FEA software (Nastran, Abacus, etc...).
  • Familiarity with Trade Studies.
  • Certification as an Engineer-In-Training (EIT).

Salary Range: $117,700 USD - $176,500 USD
Salary Range 2: $95,000 USD - $142,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
