Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems (NGAS) South Bay Aircraft Design Center of Excellence has an exciting career opportunity for a Thermal Analysis Engineer to join our team of highly qualified and diverse individuals. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, CA.

Responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for applying technical principles, theories and concepts of heat transfer to design and analysis of new systems

  • Responsible for performing thermal analysis using software (MSC SINDA, SINDA/FLUINT, Thermal Desktop) in order to solve a variety of technical problems.

  • Coordinating with other engineering disciplines and documenting thermal analyses and designs.

  • Reporting analysis results and design specifics to internal management and external customers when necessary. 

The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, collaborative/team settings across all levels.

Basic Qualifications: 

  • 14 Years with BS; 12 years with Masters; 9 Years with PhD

  • Experience using thermal analysis tools such as (MSC SINDA, SINDA/FLUINT, Thermal Desktop)

  • An ability to obtain a DoD security clearance

  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (PAR/SPA).

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • A current active in-scope U.S. Government issued DoD Secret security clearance or higher is required to start, with the ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (PAR/SPA).


Salary Range: $161,000 USD - $241,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
