Northrop Grumman’s Vandenberg Integration Site (VSFB) is looking for a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer to join our team.  As a team member of the engineering, integration, test, and launch operations team, the Mechanical Engineer will support and manage various aspects of the assembly, integration, test, and launch activities of multiple Northrop Grumman Launch Vehicle Programs.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Support development and production programs at VSFB site.

  • Perform launch vehicle hardware & solid rocket motor system and subsystem level integration, test and launch operations.

  • Evaluating and implementing Lean solutions to decrease cycle times. Implement new ideas and processes to improve manufacturing capability and efficiency.

  • Coordinate and lead Mechanical Technicians in performing functions supporting activities such as, integration, test, checkout, operation, and maintenance of complex mechanical flight, ground testing and launching systems.

  • Create, edit, review, and maintain work instructions procedures utilized during manufacturing and launch pad operations for correctness and completeness against mission requirements, launch vehicle configuration, and component changes and modifications.

  • Lead the testing and/or evaluation/validation of mechanical systems.

  • Coordinate and perform testing with customer, FAA, and site range and safety personnel.

  • Perform day-of-launch activities including pad closeouts and launch countdown support.

  • Maintain launch day schedule by performing other duties as necessary.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors of Science in Engineering +2 years of experience; Masters Degree + 0 years of experience

  • Ability to obtain Secret Clearance

  • US Citizenship required

  • Ability to travel


Salary Range: $77,100 USD - $115,700 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
