This position is for a structural engineer who will work closely with Systems, Manufacturing, M&P, and Analysis engineers in an integrated

product team to support groundbreaking development and production activities to resolve Material Review Board (MRB) tags. A mixture of proven interpersonal skills and technical skills will allow you to excel in this job.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Design repairs and determine engineering dispositions of nonconforming materials as part of the Material Review Board (MRB) process. 
  • Evaluate and resolve engineering related production problems related to manufacturing, design, quality and material engineering.
  • Provide and acquire technical information, investigate reports of defective, damaged, or malfunctioning parts, assemblies, equipment or systems.
  • Analyze engineering specifications and drawings.
  • Confer with key stakeholders, including quality, material, manufacturing, and subcontractors.
  • Participate in Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) activities.
  • Fundamental understanding of GD&T.
  • Utilize software packages such as NX and TeamCenter.
  • Critical thinking and personal organizational skills required to capture and resolve non-conformances that meet all engineering requirements.

Basic Qualifications

Engineer Structural: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Minimum 2 years of related Mechanical, Structural, or Design Engineering experience with a bachelor's degree; 0 years of experience with a related Master's degree.
  • U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD secret clearance, and a special program access clearance.

Principal Engineer Structural: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years of related Mechanical, Structural, or Design Engineering experience with a bachelor's degree; 3 years of experience with a related Master's degree.
  • U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD secret clearance, and a special program access clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active Secret Security Clearance or higher.
  • Experience supporting the production fabrication of composite and metallic structural details and assemblies.
  • Functional knowledge of production control systems (SAP/Visual Mfg/etc).
  • Experience addressing manufacturing discrepancies through a formal MRB process.
  • 2+ years of structural engineering experience.
  • 2+ years NX, and TeamCenter experience.
  • Provide technical solutions to a wide range of complex difficult problems. Solutions are imaginative, thorough, practicable, and consistent with organization objectives.
  • Works under only general direction. Independently determines and develops approach to solutions. Work is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives

Salary Range: $73,400 USD - $110,000 USD
Salary Range 2: $90,400 USD - $135,600 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
