There is currently an opening for an Associate Quality Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position falls under one of Northrop Grumman's Small Business Units, Sonoma Photonics, Inc. and will be located onsite in Santa Rosa, CA
Roles and Responsibilities: Develops, modifies, applies, and maintains quality evaluation, control systems, and protocols for processing materials into partially finished or finished materials product. Collaborates with engineering and manufacturing functions to ensure quality standards are in place. Devises and implements methods and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and metrology equipment. Designs and analyzes inspection and testing processes, mechanisms and equipment, conducts quality assurance tests, and performs statistical analysis to assess the cost of and determine the responsibility for, products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications. Audits quality systems for deficiency identification and correction; ability to review data and documentation for accuracy and proper documentation practices. Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards, and that documentation is compliant with requirements. May specialize in the areas of design, incoming material inspection, production control, product evaluation and reliability, inventory control and/or research and development as they apply to product or process quality.
Work will be conducted in both an office and lab/manufacturing environment with various temperatures and possible exposure to chemicals.
Basic Qualifications: A candidate, regardless of age and hiring source, must meet ALL of the below criteria. The candidate must:
Be completing or has completed their Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
Be majoring in or having majored in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) degree
Be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite) as well as Program Special access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs
Experience with statistical methods and analysis
Ability to clearly present and communicate ideas, concepts, and plans
Strong attention to detail
Proficient with Microsoft Office including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
Excellent organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with thin film optical materials and thin film characterization techniques
Active DoD Security clearance
Ability to model complex systems
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
