Northrop Grumman SSSD has an opening for an Engineer Supplier Quality to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will support and require travel to supplier sites in the Western US Covering (California/Arizona/Colorado) suppliers for NG.

The primary states the individual must be located is Northern CA, within plus or minus 75 miles centered near Santa Clara, Ca. While this position is a remote position, the candidate will be traveling up to 80% of the time.
With occasional travel to Mexico.

In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Supplier Quality risk management.

  • Inspections at Suppliers of Procured and Subcontracted Hardware.

  • Develops and implements supplier quality evaluation and control systems.

  • Assures supplier process and product quality, including contractual, regulatory, and technical compliance.

  •  Interfaces directly with supplier personnel and must be knowledgeable in and capable of assessing both supplier quality and manufacturing processes and procedures.

  • Conducts product and process verification activities, monitors supplier quality performance, and drives root cause corrective action analysis for supplier quality issues.

  • Keeps management apprised of supplier performance, quality status, and risks.

  • Coordinates and oversees Supplier Quality plan implementation through all program phases.

  • Manages implementation of Supplier Quality processes, including supplier approval activities, source selection evaluations, supplier classification designation (Critical, Key and Standard), development and execution of supplier quality risk assessments and mitigation plans, and supplier quality requirements development and flow-downs.

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 6 years with a bachelor's in science; 4 years with master's or 12 years of experience with a HS Diploma.

  • Candidate must have the ability to travel up to 75% of the time (SW Region) area flying and or driving within the region.)

  • Experience working in a manufacturing lab with microelectronics assembly or inspection. 

  • Familiarity with component level structures in microelectronic assembly and/or inspection (i.e how IMA's complex circuit boards and hybrids work) 

  • Knowledge and accreditation in one or more of the following: MILSTD883, JSTD-001 ES, IPCA610/620, and assembly criteria 

  • Microelectronics space hardware experience

  • PWB, PCB manufacturing and or inspection experience

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a clearance.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Aerospace and defense experience

  • Solder and PCB electrical manufacturing experience

  • Space Mechanical Hardware experience

  • Mission Assurance and Quality Background

  • Knows how to lead or facilitate RCCA meetings and perform fishbone and 5why diagrams

  • MS office knowledge

  • Knowledge of Excel

  • Active TS, SCI, or SSBI security clearance


Salary Range: $117,700 USD - $176,500 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
