Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Principal/Senior Principal Construction Quality Control Inspector.  This position will be located in VSFB, CA and will support the Sentinel (GBSD) program.  This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.  

Once work begins in the Missile Field, position would have the opportunity to relocate. We anticipate this occurring in approximately 2026.

  

What You’ll Get To Do:    

Develops, modifies, applies and maintains quality evaluation and control systems and protocols for processing materials into partially finished or finished materials product. Collaborates with engineering and manufacturing functions to ensure quality standards are in place. Devises and implements methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment. Designs and analyzes inspection and testing processes, mechanisms and equipment; conducts quality assurance tests; and performs statistical analysis to assess the cost of and determine the responsibility for, products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications. Audits quality systems for deficiency identification and correction. Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards and that documentation is compliant with requirements. May specialize in the areas of design, incoming material, production control, product evaluation and reliability, inventory control and/or research and development as they apply to product or process quality. May be certified in lean and six-sigma quality engineering methodologies.

The Construction Quality Control Inspector will ensure the project is built within contract document plans and specifications, owner requirements, and comply with local, state and federal building codes. The Quality Control Inspector will coordinate with other trades, process daily reports of project progress related to quality and adhere to all guidelines issued by owner.

Daily tasks include but are not limited to:
• Work in conjunction with the owner, subcontractors and with the field staff to ensure quality and timeliness of project construction and completion
•Implement and manage the quality control plan
•Manage the submittal review and approval process
• Manage the inspections process
• Coordinate third party testing agents 
• Closely track and maintain a project deficiency log
•Establish testing procedures in accordance with the contract documents
• Comply with the USACE “Three Phases of Control” and schedule and conduct quality control meetings -– Preparatory Phase, Initial Phase, and Follow-up Phase
• Interface with customer representative(s) as required
•Manage the punchlist process
• Encourage, lead, and/or participate in staff training and development

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.    

  

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:  

  • Level 3: 5 Years with Bachelors in Science; 3 Years with Masters; 0 Years with PhD., 4 additional years of experience is acceptable in lieu of Bachelor's Degree.
  • Level 4: 9 Years with Bachelors in Science; 7 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD. 4 additional years of experience is acceptable in lieu of Bachelor's Degree.
  • U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP).
  • Verifiable training and field experience on building construction projects or preferably Department of Defense where USACE was the owners QA inspector
  • Prior experience developing and managing Quality Control Plans with increasing levels of responsibility.

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:  

  • Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) or equivalent
  • Active USACE Construction Quality Management for Contractors (CQM) training


Salary Range: $95,000 USD - $142,400 USD
Salary Range 2: $117,700 USD - $176,500 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
