Northrop Grumman Space Systems has an opportunity for a Mission Assurance (MA) Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Boulder CO. Join the OPIR Exploitation Systems (OES) Operating Unit and work with our team of experts ensuring the development and delivery of systems that keep our world safe. As a key program team member, the Mission Assurance Engineer will engage with all levels of the organization and work collaboratively with functional areas including Program Management, Contracts, Business Management, and Systems Engineering, The MA Engineer will be an advocate for program quality, exercise objective judgment, drive improvements in quality processes, products, and services. The MA Engineer will report to the Mission Assurance Manager, of the OPIR OES Operating Unit located in Boulder CO. Roles and Responsibilities: The MA Engineer develops, modifies, applies, and maintains standards for software quality operating methods, processes, systems and procedures. Conducts software inspection, testing, verification and validation. Implements software development and maintenance processes and methods. Ensures measures meet acceptable reliability standards. Develops overall operating criteria to ensure implementation of the software quality program according to project, process and contract requirements and objectives. Ensures that project and process control documentation are compliant with requirements, objectives and/or contract. Reviews software design, change specifications, and plans against contractual and/or process requirements. Reviews include applicable specifications, materials, tools, techniques, and methodologies. Performs or directs verification of software/hardware requirement allocations, traceability, and testability.

This requisition may be filled at a higher job grade based on the qualifications listed below.

This requisition may be filled as either a Quality Engineer or a Principal Quality Engineer.

Basic Qualifications for a Quality Engineer:

- Bachelors in Science degree in a STEM discipline and 2 years of experience –OR- a Master’s Degree and 0 years’ experience in supporting mission/quality assurance, systems engineering, hardware engineering or supplier quality management.

- Good understanding of software/hardware development and sustainment

- Ability to work with all levels of management and the possession of excellent communication skills

- The ability to travel across the state of Colorado to U.S. Military bases where our products are installed

- The ability to work independently and be willing to travel up to 15% of the time.

- Active Secret clearance. Ability to obtain Top Secret clearance.

Basic Qualifications for a Principal Quality Engineer:

- Bachelors in Science degree in a STEM discipline and 5 years of experience –OR- a Master’s Degree and 3 years’ experience in supporting mission/quality assurance, systems engineering, hardware engineering or supplier quality management.

- Good understanding of software/hardware development and sustainment

- Ability to work with all levels of management and the possession of excellent communication skills

- The ability to travel across the state of Colorado to U.S. Military bases where our products are installed

- The ability to work independently and be willing to travel up to 15% of the time.

- Active Secret clearance. Ability to obtain Top Secret clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:

- Prior work in OPIR and SBIRS/DSP satellite engineering, use and knowledge of the Missile Defense systems exploitation of OPIR or experience in Multi-Int data fusion.

- Quality Assurance, Mission Assurance or Process experience in a hardware or softw are sustainment environment

- Good understanding of AS9100 D and/or CMMI quality management system and knowledge of what these standards mean in relation to business

- Good understanding of Agile and Mission Assurance role in Agile methodology

- Active TS clearance with SCI access


Salary Range: $74,900 USD - $112,300 USD
Salary Range 2: $92,200 USD - $138,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
