Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a dedicate Supplier Quality Engineer to join our team in Baltimore, MD. This position may be filled by a remote worker.

The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for Supplier Quality risk management. Develops and implements supplier quality evaluation and control systems. Assures supplier process and product quality, including contractual, regulatory, and technical compliance. Interfaces directly with supplier personnel and must be knowledgeable in and capable of assessing both supplier quality and manufacturing processes and procedures. Conducts product and process verification activities, monitors supplier quality performance, and drives root cause corrective action analysis for supplier quality issues. Supports the maintenance of the approved supplier list and periodically reviews supplier performance to determine whether suppliers should remain on the approved list. Manages supplier requests for waivers, deviations and discrepancy reporting process. Keeps management apprised of supplier performance, quality status, and risks. Coordinates and oversees Supplier Quality plan implementation through all program phases. Actively engages in supplier evaluation, qualification and selection as part of the Business Acquisition Process (BAP) and as new procurement are required on existing programs. Manages implementation of Supplier Quality processes, including supplier approval activities, source selection evaluations, supplier classification designation (Critical, Key and Standard), development and execution of supplier quality risk assessments and mitigation plans, and supplier quality requirements development and flow-downs.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must be a Certified Welding Inspector
  • Six (6)+ years of relevant experience in engineering, manufacturing or quality assurance in lieu of a 4 year degree (or a bachelor's in a related STEM field and 2+ of relevant years)
  • Must be able to travel up to 60% of the time.
  • Must be able to support source inspections that will require driving and or flying to suppliers sites on a regular basis.
  • Must be knowledgeable and capable of assessing both supplier quality and manufacturing processes and procedures.
  • Must demonstrate a keen attention to detail along with other requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities such as blue print reading and non-destructive testing.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001/AS9100 Quality Management System certification process, GD&T, J-STD, Machining processes, coating process (including various types of plating), vacuum brazing, and welding.
  • US Citizenship required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline Preferably in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Chemical Engineering from an ABET accredited University.
  • ASQ Certified.
  • Familiar with NADCAP.
  • May be certified in lean and six-sigma quality engineering methodologies.
  • Deep Experience in Aluminum welding, brazing, coating, and machining preferably in the aerospace industry.
  • Working knowledge of SAP.
  • Be able to analyze supplier’s quality trends and respond accordingly via SCARS or Audits.
  • Have Strong communication and leadership skills to be able to work with multiple teams and accommodate various styles in communications.
  • Be able to maintain a very positive relationship with internal teams and external team especially with Suppliers.
  • Be very customer oriented with great sense of urgency.
  • Be independent and able to work with no or little supervision.
  • Be able to review drawings and 3D models to understand the parts and how they are made.

MAQEA

This position reports to Unknown City, MD, USA, however, you are able to work from any of the additional 2 locations listed above.


Salary Range: $70,100 USD - $105,100 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
