Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems (NGAS) has an opening for an Engineer Mission Assurance / Principal Engineer Mission Assurance to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals supporting Beavercreek, OH. We are a world-class manufacturer of composite structures, radomes, and antenna systems for military applications.  We design and manufacturer solutions for our war fighters to keep our country safe and maintain peace on a global scale.

The Engineer Mission Assurance / Principal Engineer Mission Assurance will be a part of our Mission Assurance Team and will be a key contributor to the entire project lifecycle.  You will work closely with all functions of the organization, and within Integrated Product Teams to identify and solve problems and improve processes.

*This is a 1st shift full-time, exempt level position working a 9/80 schedule with every other Friday off to pursue your passions outside of the office! This position requires onsite presence due to the nature of the role.

Essential Functions / Responsibilities:

  • Review and incorporate customer requirements into the manufacturing and procurement processes to support delivery of compliant product.
  • Support design qualification through first article planning and reporting, providing inputs to Preliminary and Critical Design Reviews, and performing peer reviews of manufacturing instructions and test procedures.
  • Perform internal process audits, and support core quality functions.
  • Write procedures and quality inspection documents, review manufacturing planning for proper incorporation of design requirement verifications.
  • Analyze non-conformance data to identify and resolve process deficiencies and provide recommendations for improvement and MRB reduction.
  • Work with a team to reduce Cost of Poor Quality through innovation and process improvements using LEAN strategies.
  • Lead corrective action activities and reports findings to program and CAB meetings.
  • Support internal audits, process observations, and area assessments.
  • Collaborate and partner with cross-functions and programs, customers, program management, and other support organizations.
  • Ensure flow down of customer and industry requirements to suppliers.
  • Partner with customers to achieve goals and deliver to requirements.

**This role may be filled at Engineer Mission Assurance Level 2 or Principal Engineer Mission Assurance Level 3.

Basic Qualifications for Engineer Mission Assurance (Level 2):

  • Bachelor’s degree with 2 years relevant experience OR Masters’ degree with 0 years of experience
  • Experience performing or assuring quality, risk management, safety, reliability and maintainability in a manufacturing or aerospace environment.
  • Experience working with sub-contractors and/or suppliers.
  • Demonstrated experience incorporating inspection requirements into manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to work within MS applications i.e., MS Word, (documentation) Excel (with the ability to create, edit, log and track data in spreadsheets).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance within a reasonable timeframe as required by the business.

Basic Qualifications for Principal Engineer Mission Assurance (Level 3):

  • Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of relevant experience OR Masters’ degree with 3 years relevant experience OR PHD with 0 years of experience
  • Experience performing or assuring quality, risk management, safety, reliability and maintainability in a manufacturing or aerospace environment.
  • Experience working with sub-contractors and/or suppliers.
  • Demonstrated experience incorporating inspection requirements into manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to work within MS applications i.e., MS Word, (documentation) Excel (with the ability to create, edit, log and track data in spreadsheets).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance within a reasonable timeframe as required by the business.

Preferred Qualifications for Engineer Mission Assurance / Principal Engineer Mission Assurance Levels 2 and 3:

  • Active DoD Secret Security Clearance
  • Knowledge of GD&T
  • Experience working with an AS9100 certified Quality Management System
  • Knowledge of Root Cause / Corrective Action methods
  • Experience maintaining process or program quality metrics.

Salary Range: $77,200 USD - $115,800 USD
Salary Range 2: $95,100 USD - $142,700 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
