Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is looking for a Principal Supplier Quality Engineer/Senior Principal Engineer Supplier Quality to join our Mission Assurance team.

This candidate will work 80/20 on site and must be located within 30 miles of the Clearfield, UT area. This position will require some travel throughout the Continental US and requires the ability to fly commercially.

Responsible for Supplier Quality risk management. Develops and implements supplier quality evaluation and control systems. Assures supplier process and product quality, including contractual, regulatory, and technical compliance. Interfaces directly with supplier personnel and must be knowledgeable in and capable of assessing both supplier quality and manufacturing processes and procedures. Conducts product and process verification activities, monitors supplier quality performance, and drives root cause corrective action analysis for supplier quality issues. Supports the maintenance of the approved supplier list and periodically reviews supplier performance to determine whether suppliers should remain on the approved list. Manages supplier requests for waivers, deviations and discrepancy reporting process. Keeps management apprised of supplier performance, quality status, and risks. Coordinates and oversees Supplier Quality plan implementation through all program phases. Actively engages in supplier evaluation, qualification and selection as part of the Business Acquisition Process (BAP) and as new procurements are required on existing programs. Manages implementation of Supplier Quality processes, including supplier approval activities, source selection evaluations, supplier classification designation (Critical, Key and Standard), development and execution of supplier quality risk assessments and mitigation plans, and supplier quality requirements development and flow-downs

This position will provide support to ensure suppliers are delivering products with 100% conformance. Candidate will need to work well within supplier management teams and think outside of the box to ensure that suppliers are supported and mentored, as necessary, to ensure consistent product quality is guaranteed with on-time deliveries. In addition, strong RCCA techniques will be necessary.

  • Develops, modifies, applies and maintains quality evaluation and control systems and protocols for processing materials into partially finished or finished materials product.
  • Collaborates with engineering and manufacturing functions to ensure quality standards are in place.
  • Devises and implements methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment.
  • Designs and analyzes inspection and testing processes, mechanisms and equipment, conducts quality assurance tests, and performs statistical analyses to assess the cost of and determine the responsibility for, products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications.
  • Audits quality systems for deficiency identification and correction.
  • Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards and that documentation is compliant with requirements.
  • Specializes in the areas of design, incoming material, production control, product evaluation and reliability, inventory control and/or research and development as they apply to product or process quality.
  • Certification in Lean and/or Six Sigma quality engineering methodologies preferred. 

Basic Qualifications for Principal Engineer Supplier Quality:

  • Must have a bachelor’s degree AND 5 years of quality experience, OR a master’s degree and 3 years of quality.
  • Valid State Driver’s License to operate a personal motor vehicle.
  • Ability to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance and special program access.
  • Have dependable transportation, to travel to local suppliers.

Basic Qualifications for Senior Principal Engineer Supplier Quality:

  • Must have a STEM degree: Bachelors with 9 years relevant experience; OR Masters with 7 Years; OR PhD Master’s degree with 4 Years
  • Valid State Driver’s License to operate a personal motor vehicle
  • Ability to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance and special program access.
  • Have dependable transportation, to travel to local suppliers

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Supplier Quality experience in industry
  • AS9100 Auditing experience
  • AS9102 First Article Inspection
  • Prior experience working on Supplier Management Teams
  • Active DoD secret Clearance last investigated within the last 5 1/2 years.

Salary Range: $86,300 USD - $129,500 USD
Salary Range 2: $107,000 USD - $160,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
