Northrop Grumman's Space Systems Navigation Group is hiring for a Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) Engineer professional within the Launch Vehicle team located in Chandler, AZ.GNC is designing, building, testing rockets for a mix of DoD, NASA, and commercial customers.Position Overview
The GNC Engineer in the Navigation group will design, develop, implement, verify and test algorithms, software, and simulation tools to perform navigation of missiles, launch vehicles and upper stages during powered and coast phases of launch, flight, earth orbit, interplanetary cruise and orbital insertion, as well as during staging events. Navigation functions include the statistical processing of measured data points (e.g. Inertial Measurement Units, GPS, altimeters, etc) and their substitution into algorithms estimating physical reality. Working alongside Guidance and Controls experts, the Navigation team provides the necessary vehicle states to support mission success.Essential FunctionsThe successful candidate for this position will be responsible for providing priority navigation technical contributions for a variety of programs, including, but not limited to, missile defense targets programs, next-generation interceptors, and various other missile and rocket programs. Familiarity with inertial, satellite-based, and integrated navigation systems and customer provided requirement analysis is a plus. Proven experience with flight software in a simulation environment is a plus.Basic Qualifications Engineer 2 GNC:
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) with 2 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in STEM
  • Active DoD Secret Security Clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with the C++, MATLAB, Simulink, and/or Python programming languages
  • Experience with the Linux Operating System
  • Experience with Inertial, Satellite-Based, or Integrated Navigation Systems
  • Excellent communication skills

Salary Range: $73,400 USD - $110,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
