Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is looking for a Principal or Senior Principal Engineer Guidance Navigation Controls to support the Systems Engineering organization in Redondo Beach, CA.

Position Overview:

The selected candidate will support research and development of flight control algorithms for manned and unmanned air vehicles.  This is a dynamic and fun organization involved in deploying forward-leaning avionics, guidance, navigation, and control systems for many of the newer concepts in development for air vehicles, weapons, and many more platforms.

Essential Duties: 

• Stability and control analysis and preliminary control design synthesis.
• Perform Control Sizing, and Control Power analysis.
• Support inner-loop and outer-loop control development.
• Perform modeling and analysis using Matlab/Simulink.
• Develop high-fidelity 6 Degree of Freedom simulations to verify performance.
• Lead and manage projects accomplished by small, highly skilled teams plus the abilities to communicate clearly with customers and project management, and manage subcontractors.

Basic Qualifications Principal Engineer Guidance Navigation Controls: 

• Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of related engineering experience, or a Master's Degree in STEM and 3 years of related engineering experience, or 0 years of related engineering experience with a PhD in STEM.
• Candidate must be able to work independently and be knowledgeable of system architectures, flight control and autonomy design requirements, and simulation, and modeling techniques. 
• Perform analysis using C/C++ or Matlab/Simulink.
• Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office with strong technical writing skills and the ability to communicate and present technical material to various stakeholders.
• Active U.S. Government in-scope DoD Secret security clearance or higher is required, with the ability to obtain Special Program Access (PAR/SPA).

Basic Qualifications Senior Principal Engineer Guidance Navigation Controls: 

• Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university with 9 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in STEM with 7 years of related engineering experience, or a PhD in STEM with 4 years of related engineering experience.
• Candidate must be able to work independently and be knowledgeable of system architectures, flight control and autonomy design requirements, and simulation, and modeling techniques. 
• Perform analysis using C/C++ or Matlab/Simulink.
• Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office with strong technical writing skills and the ability to communicate and present technical material to various stakeholders.
• Active U.S. Government in-scope DoD Secret security clearance or higher is required, with the ability to obtain Special Program Access (PAR/SPA).

Preferred Qualifications: 

• A Master's Degree in Aerospace Engineering discipline from an accredited university
• A current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD Secret clearance with current or previous Special Program Access (PAR/SPA). 

Salary Range: $104,600 USD - $157,000 USD

Salary Range 2: $129,700 USD - $194,500 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
