Northrop Grumman is seeking a Consulting Engineer Optical to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, CA.

Roles and Responsibilities:
• Lead the development of architectures and requirements for optical communication / lasercom systems
• Lead multi-disciplinary teams to design and develop optical communication systems payloads
• Take responsibility for attracting and obtaining new company business, including leadership roles on proposals and captures

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelors of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) field from an accredited institution
• Minimum of 20 years of optical communication systems or photonics experience in an aerospace environment; or 18 years of optical communication systems or photonics experience with a STEM Master's degree; or 14 years of optical communication systems or photonics experience with a STEM PhD
• Ability to obtain and maintain an SSBI/SCI security clearance
• Experience developing architectures and requirements for communication systems

Preferred Qualifications:
• PhD Degree in Electrical Engineering with a concentration in optical communications with 15 years of optical communication systems experience in an aerospace environment
• Active In-Scope DoD Top Secret or SSBI/SCI clearance
• Experience in the development of space-based optical communication systems payloads

Salary Range: $218,500 USD - $327,700 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
