Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Sr Principal Software Engineer.  This position will be located in Huntsville, AL and will support the Sentinel (GBSD) program. 

What You’ll Get To Do: 

Specific duties to include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Interface with requirements and deriving design from requirements in a model based systems engineering environment
  • Derive and allocate requirements into detailed design
  • Designs, develops and tests displays, controls and functionality
  • Designs, develops and tests simulation software for use in high fidelity simulation based training systems; training systems may include a combination of console and weapon system simulations, virtual reality, and augmented reality
  • Design and develop artificial intelligence algorithms to tutor, assess and evaluate learner knowledge
  • Develops and maintains databases to monitor and analyze learner and system performance
  • Collaborates with Systems and Quality Engineers to ensure software requirements are met
  • Performs software peer reviews, version control, automated tests, software analysis, continuous integration, and continuous delivery in accordance with DevSecOps processes and best practices
  • Performs code quality management and corrects defects
  • Coordinates with HW/SW team to perform retests and regression tests once defects are corrected

Candidate should have:

  • Previous practical experience bridging requirements into software design and implementation including active work in DOORs and architecture models through detailed design documentation and into code
  • Strong experience with build automation tools such as Jenkins, GoCD, Travis CI or Circle CI
  • Strong experience with deployment automation tools such as chef, puppet or ansible
  • Experience with working in a fast pace, agile environment with the ability to work on cross-function Scrum team focused on quality and capability delivery
  • Experience with Java/C/C++ development and/or front-end web development including JavaScript Frameworks (Angular JS or React), HTML, and CSS
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps, continuous integration, and continuous delivery
  • Familiarity with distributed version control software (Git, Mercurial)
  • Experience with Linux and Windows operating systems
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, Extreme Programming), Scaled Agile Framework – SAFe for Lean Enterprises

Job Qualifications: 

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

  • 9 Years of related software engineering experience with a Bachelors in Science; 7 Years with a Masters; 4 Years with a PhD, or 4 additional years in lieu of a degree
  • US Citizenship with ability to obtain PAR
  • Current DoD Secret clearance or higher (adjudicated within the past 5 years) with ability to obtain PAR within 365 days from submission
  • Full lifecycle software development experience
  • Experience with working in a fast pace, agile environment with the ability to work on cross-function Scrum team focused on quality and capability delivery
  • Experience with Java/C/C++ development and/or front-end web development including JavaScript Frameworks (Angular JS or React), HTML, and CSS
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps, continuous integration, and continuous delivery

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

One or more of the following:

  • US Citizenship with an Active Top Secret Clearance or higher (awarded within the past 5 years)
  • Direct experience with build automation tools such as Jenkins, GoCD, Travis CI or Circle CI
  • Proficiency in CAMEO for modeling

Salary Range: $114,300 USD - $171,500 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
