Northrop Grumman Space Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Software Engineer/Principal Software Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Huntsville, AL.

Position Overview:

  

The selected Software Engineer / Principal Software Engineer will be responsible for software development for the C2BMC BM/SRM Product Team, performing analysis and technical support of systems software products, including resolution, design, development, testing, operational integration, and user support.

Essential Functions:  

• Support advanced portions of the lifecycle of software development to include requirements definition, integration, and deployment.
• Prioritize and adjust tasks to accomplish project results with limited oversight and direction.
• Apply "systems thinking" to ensure developed products are scalable, maintainable, and meet end-user needs.
• Communicate openly and effectively with teammates and customer representatives.

This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below.

Basic Qualifications:

This requisition may be filled at either a Software Engineer or a Principal Software Engineer level.

BQs for a Software Engineer are:

• Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 2 years of related experience, or a Master's Degree in a STEM discipline and 0 years of related experience.
• Good working knowledge of MS Office products.
• Experience developing software in object-oriented programming languages such as C, C++, or Java.
• Knowledge of basic software practices such as coding standards and configuration management
• Experience in the use of common software development and management tools such as Git, JIRA and Eclipse.
• Ability and willingness to travel 10% to support business needs.
• A current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance.

BQs for a Principal Software Engineer are:

• Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 5 years of related experience, or a Master's Degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of related experience, or 0 years of experience with a PhD.
• Good working knowledge of MS Office products.
• Experience developing software in object-oriented programming languages such as C, C++, or Java.
• Knowledge of basic software practices such as coding standards and configuration management
• Experience in the use of common software development and management tools such as Git, JIRA and Eclipse.
• Ability and willingness to travel 10% to support business needs.
• A current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with technical teams and customer personnel.
• Experience analyzing complex problems and developing solutions based on limited direction and definition.
• Experience developing Enterprise applications.
• Familiarity with Java foundation classes and toolkits.
• Knowledge of server side development and computer system administration.
• Flexibility and willingness to take on unanticipated tasking.
• A current active U.S. Government DoD Top Secret security clearance.

Salary Range: $77,200 USD - $115,800 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
