Are you an experienced engineering professional looking for a rewarding and challenging career as a Software Engineer / Principal Software Engineer (T2/T3) to support test equipment software and hardware design? If so, Northrop Grumman Defense Systems in Northridge, CA may be the employer for you!

In this role, you will be working with other software and hardware engineers as part of STE (special test equipment) software development team.

This position requires that the selected candidate work on-site in Northridge, CA. Telework is not available for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Requirements analysis and generation, system and software design and implementation, and integration

  • Work in a team environment to maintain existing software and develop new applications based on hardware changes

  • Support customers with the development and maintenance of software

Basic Qualifications for a Software Engineer (T02):

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering

  • 2 Years of Experience in Related field or MS and 0 years of Experience.

  • *Ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance

  • Basic Office Proficiency (Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint)

  • Knowledge and/or experience with software development and simulation tools (e.g. editors, compilers, linkers, desktop simulators, and/or configuration management tools), as well as various software languages and development environments: C#, C++ , Ada, MS Visual Studio

  • Communication protocol experience: TCP/IP, UDP, MIL-STD-1553, RS-232/422/485, Ethernet, GPIB, I2C, USB

  • Presentation skills and the ability to explain advanced technical topics to both technical and non-technical team members and customers

  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging capabilities

  • Strong ability to understand and navigate large codebases

  • Experience troubleshooting embedded devices

Basic Qualifications for a Principal Software Engineer (T03):

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering

  • 5 Years of Experience in Related field or MS and 3 years of Experience..

  • *Ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance

  • Basic Office Proficiency (Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint)

  • Knowledge and/or experience with software development and simulation tools (e.g. editors, compilers, linkers, desktop simulators, and/or configuration management tools), as well as various software languages and development environments: C#, C++ , Ada, MS Visual Studio

  • Communication protocol experience: TCP/IP, UDP, MIL-STD-1553, RS-232/422/485, Ethernet, GPIB, I2C, USB

  • Presentation skills and the ability to explain advanced technical topics to both technical and non-technical team members and customers

  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging capabilities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current active Secret clearance

  • Experience in CMMI Level 3 software development processes

  • Experience with UML design

  • Experience with RF test equipment (Signal Analyzers, Signal Generators, Network Analyzers, Power sensors)

  • Some experience with Office automation tools (VB.NET / VBA)

  • Knowledge of configuring either Linux or Windows operating systems


Salary Range: $85,000 USD - $127,400 USD
Salary Range 2: $104,600 USD - $157,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
