Responsibilities include but not limited to:

Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions. Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software. Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepares operating instructions; designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems. Ensures software standards are met.

Basic Qualifications of a Sr. Principal Software Engineer:

• Bachelor’s degree in STEM discipline with 9 years of related experience; Master's Degree with 7 years of related experience; an additional 4 years of experience in lieu of a degree
• Current TS/SCI access or current DoD Top Secret clearance with the ability to obtain SCI access
• Demonstrated experience quickly learning new concepts and approaches
• Experience in higher level programming shell, or scripting languages
• Experience with software development, the software lifecycle, building tools into a pipeline and processes (DevOps, Agile)
• Programming or scripting experience in a Linux environment (C++, Python, Perl, Git, Shell, Scripts)
• Proficiency in software development, software architecture, or systems engineering

Preferred Qualifications:

• Active SCI security clearance
• Ability to collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs), to generate engineering artifacts for handoff to software development
• Desire to work across teams within the same infrastructure
• Desire to automate and improve existing processes
• Demonstrated problem solving and decision-making skills
• Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, with the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management
• Familiar with Agile Process/methodologies and DevOps techniques
• Has Lead transition from existing framework to modern methodologies

Salary Range: $125,800 USD - $188,600 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
