The Payload and Ground Systems (PGS) division of Northrop Grumman's Space Systems sector seeks team members who want to solve interesting, complex problems which protect our nation. We are a trusted mission payload and ground system provider with extensive experience providing end-to-end mission solutions from concept through operations and support. In this role, you will join our team located at our Space Park campus in Redondo Beach, CA.

What you’ll get to do?

As a test engineer on this team, you will have the opportunity to test software that is part of a large, complex code base to ensure its capabilities, documented in requirements, are working as the customer expects. You will take the testing through the full life-cycle to include writing test procedures, preparing for peer reviews, performing dry runs and preparing for customer milestones. You will have the privilege of direct customer interface as you prepare for and perform test readiness reviews and requirements sell-off. You will have a direct role in ensuring delivery of a quality product and customer satisfaction. The environment is Java Eclipse on Linux; creating and editing Perl scripts is necessary to perform the test runs. The future of this test organization includes a transition to a web-based environment using Python, using agile principles and DevOps automated testing methodologies.

This position may be filled at either a Principal Software Integration and Test Engineer level or a Senior Principal Software Integration and Test Engineer level based on the qualifications listed below.

Basic Qualifications for a Principal Software Integration and Test Engineer:

  • 5 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree in STEM; 3 years of relevant experience with a Master's degree in STEM; PhD
  • Active SCI or TS with the ability to obtain SCI
  • Exposure to Linux
  • Success developing/manipulating scripts or debugging software
  • Demonstrated experience quickly learning new concepts and approaches

Basic Qualifications for a Senior Principal Software Integration and Test Engineer:

  • 9 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree in STEM; 7 years of relevant experience with a Master's degree in STEM; 4 years of relevant experience with a PhD
  • Active SCI or TS with the ability to obtain SCI
  • Exposure to Linux
  • Success developing/manipulating scripts or debugging software
  • Demonstrated experience quickly learning new concepts and approaches

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience with Agile development
  • Effectively communicate and present to project and program management, other technical managers, and customers

Salary Range: $104,600 USD - $157,000 USD
Salary Range 2: $129,700 USD - $194,500 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
