Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking an Embedded/Principal Embedded Engineer to support the SNAP Department (Strategic Networks, Applications, and Products).  Our team focuses on Network Solutions, and supports a variety of technologies across our three departments; C3 Solutions, Strategic Networks, and Small Form Factors. C3 Solutions, specializes in Tactical Data Link processors, emulators, and simulators.  Our Strategic Networks team builds solutions to defending our country's nuclear assets.  And lastly, our Small Form Factors Department brings SWaP optimized solutions (Crypto, SDRs, Space Networks) to new domains, bridging us into Space , Weapons, and more.  This position will be located in the beautiful city of San Diego, CA, at one of our two locations; Rancho Carmel, or Kearny Mesa.

What you will get to do:

  • Designs, develops, operates and maintains software and firmware components and computing systems software to be applied to and integrated with engineering, scientific and manufacturing requirements

  • Applies the appropriate standards, processes, procedures and tools throughout the system development life cycle to support the generation of such engineering applications and products such as laboratory simulation systems, aircraft and ground radios, electronic warfare jammers, mechanical and electrical systems.

  • Interfaces with customers, suppliers, application users and other technical and support personnel.

This position will require onsite work however for this role we are able to offer flexible work arrangements and some remote work will be possible.

This is a dual level requisition which can be filled as an Embedded Engineer or Principal Embedded Engineer

Basic Qualifications:

Embedded Software Engineer

  • 2 years relevant experience with BS in STEM discipline; 0 Years of relevant experience with a Masters in STEM discipline

  • Experience in developing embedded, real-time software using C/C++.

  • Solid understanding of software development processes for real-time embedded applications

  • Clearance: Candidate must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain an active U.S. Government DOD Secret Clearance

Principal Embedded Software Engineer

  • 5 years relevant experience with BS in STEM discipline; 3 Years of relevant experience with a Masters in STEM discipline: 0 years of experience with a PHD in STEM discipline

  • Experience in developing embedded, real-time software using C/C++.

  • Solid understanding of software development processes for real-time embedded applications

  • Clearance: Candidate must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain an active U.S. Government DOD Secret Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiar with tools such as Rhapsody, GreenHills MULTI Integrated Development Environment, DOORS and ClearCase/ClearQuest

  • Software Systems engineering, requirements analysis, system integration, system architecture

  • Tactical Data Links (Link 16, VMF, MADL).

  • Open Mission System (OMS) Architecture

  • Experience with GreenHills Integrity

  • Avionics Operating Systems

  • Digital Signal Processing

  • LabVIEW

Salary Range: $85,000 USD - $127,400 USD
Salary Range 2: $104,600 USD - $157,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
