We are looking for you to join our team as a Manager Software Engineering I or Manager Software Engineering II based out of San Jose, CA or McClellan, CA in the Sacramento area. As a Manager Software Engineering at Northrop Grumman you will have a challenging and rewarding opportunity to be a part of our Enterprise-wide digital transformation. What You’ll get to Do:

Be part of our Software & Digital Technologies (SWDT) function. This is a dual role encompassing both functional management and technical performance within a program. In this role you will have the opportunity to showcase your leadership skills to achieve sustainable top performance. Effectively communicate and problem solve to develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Demonstrate a commitment to ethics/integrity and the capability to innovate while challenging traditional ways of doing business. Collaborate and lead Software Engineering teams.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Technical software development and management in a program role as part of the Northern California management team

  • Functional oversight for a team of software engineers of varied disciplines

  • Staffing and workload forecasting; employee inclusion, engagement, mentoring and career development; employee training and identification and training of skills required to perform on programs

  • Building diverse and inclusive teams with high levels of engagement, including mentoring and coaching

  • Implementing and/or applying DevSecOps tools for software development

  • Working with Agile methodologies

This position may be filled as a Manager Software Engineering I or Manager Software Engineering II.

Basic Qualifications Manager Software Engineering I: 

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a technical discipline and a minimum of 5 years' experience with software engineering; Master's and 3 years of experience with software engineering

  • Must have experience leading a team or project

  • Must have software development experience with C, C++, and/or Java

  • Must have US Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Clearance/SCI

Basic Qualifications Manager Software Engineering II: 

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a technical discipline and a minimum of 9 years' experience with software engineering; Master's and 7 years of experience with software engineering

  • Must have experience leading a team or project

  • Must have software development experience with C, C++, and/or Java

  • Must have US Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Clearance/SCI

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Active Top Secret Clearance/SCI

  • Master's degree in a relevant technical or management specialty

  • Experience leading, developing, and managing a direct staff of employees

  • Program Management Experience

  • DevSecOps Experience

  • Agile experience

This position reports to San Jose, CA, USA, however, this position can also be worked from McClellan, CA, CA, USA.


Salary Range: $123,200 USD - $184,800 USD
Salary Range 2: $147,800 USD - $221,800 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
