Northrop Grumman Space Systems is looking for an experienced Software Engineer/Principal Software Engineer to join our dynamic team in Boulder, CO.

This individual will be responsible for: designing, developing, documenting, testing and debugging applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions.

Further responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Conducting multidisciplinary research and collaborating with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software. Determining computer user needs; analyzing system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, outputting requirements, inputting data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; preparing operating instructions; designing and developing compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems, and ensuring software standards are met.

This position may be filled as either a Level 2 or Level 3 based on skills/qualifications.

Basic Qualifications for Level 2:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related degree with 2+ years of Software Development experience, Master's degree with 0+ years of experience; or 6 years of related experience in lieu of degree

  • Knowledge of C/C++ and Linux

  • Experience working in teams to develop Software and troubleshoot in order to find/resolve defects

  • Active Secret clearance is required with the ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI clearance

Basic Qualifications for Level 3:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related degree with 5+ years of Software Development experience, Master's degree with 3+ years of experience, or PhD with 0+ years of experience; or 9 years of related experience in lieu of degree

  • Proficiency of C/C++ and Linux

  • Experience working in teams to develop Software and troubleshoot in order to find/resolve defects

  • Active Secret clearance is required with the ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI clearance

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Active TS/SCI clearance

  • Experience with Shell scripting

  • Adept with Java development

  • Solid understanding of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)

  • Agile development experience

  • Configuration management for software, e.g. GIT

  • Proficiency with full software development lifecycle experience

  • Familiarity with Software peer-review process, Software development environment experience, and experience in the development of User Interface, process control, and/or algorithms

  • Knowledge of the Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) and/or SBIRS architecture is a bonus

  • Security+ certification is highly preferred


Salary Range: $82,400 USD - $123,600 USD
Salary Range 2: $101,400 USD - $152,200 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
