The Payload and Ground Systems organization within the Northrop Grumman Space Systems pushes the boundaries of innovation, redefines engineering capabilities, and drives advances in various sciences. The Software Development & Test (SWDT) team at Northrop Grumman Space Systems (NGSS) is looking for you to join our team as a Principal or Senior Principal Software Engineer based out of Boulder, CO.

What You’ll get to Do:

Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs application software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions. Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with other teams (Integration & Verification, etc.) in the planning, design, development, and utilization of data processing systems for products solving our customer requirements.

This position may be filled at either a level 3 or a level 4 based on skills/qualifications.

Basic Qualifications for a Band 3:

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or other related degree with 5 years software development experience; 3 years with Masters; 0 years with PhD; or 9 years of related experience in lieu of degree

- Active DoD Secret Clearance

- Experience with C/C++ and Linux

Basic Qualifications for a Band 4:

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or other related degree with 9 years software development experience; 7 years with Masters; 4 years with PhD; or 1 years of related experience in lieu of degree

- Active DoD Secret Clearance

- Experience with C/C++ and Linux

Preferred Qualifications:

- Top Secret/SCI clearance

- Shell scripting experience

- Python experience

- Java development

- Agile development experience

- Configuration management for software, e.g. GIT

- Full software development lifecycle experience

- Software peer review process

- Software development environment experience

- Experience working in teams to develop SW and troubleshoot SW to find/fix defects

- Experience in the development of User Interface, process control, and/or algorithms

- Knowledge of the Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) and/or SBIRS architecture a bonus

- Security+ a bonus


Salary Range: $101,400 USD - $152,200 USD
Salary Range 2: $125,800 USD - $188,600 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
