Northrop Grumman Space Systems – Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Principal Software Engineer – Enterprise Services to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located out of Colorado Springs, CO.

Position Overview:

This position is for a Software Engineer on the C2BMC program. The candidate will be responsible for software development in the Java language. Responsible for performing in-depth analysis and technical support of systems software products, including complex problem resolution, design, development, testing, operational integration, and user support.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintains, debugs and configures related software products.
  • Works from specifications to develop or modify operating systems applications.
  • Assists with design, coding, benchmark testing, debugging and documentation of programs.
  • Interfaces with other system support groups to resolve problems, setting standards and improving overall efficiency of the operating system.
  • Designs, codes, tests and implements tools for operations automation.
  • Works on most phases of software systems programming applications and may require instruction and guidance.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 5 years of related experience, or a Master's Degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of related experience, or a PhD and 0 years of related experience, or 9 years related experience in lieu of a degree
  • Ability to possess a DoD 8570 certification at IAT Level II or higher (Security+, GSEC, SCNP, SSCP, CISSP, CISA, GSE, SCNA) within 60 days of employment.
  • Software engineering and software development with Java/JEE experience.
  • The candidate will have experience and knowledge of basic software practices such as coding standards and configuration management.
  • Experience developing enterprise applications
  • Familiarity with Java foundation classes and toolkits
  • Knowledge of server side/database development and computer system administration
  • Experience working as part of an Agile team
  • Use of common software development and management tools such as git, Nexus, JIRA, Confluence, maven or Gradle and Eclipse
  • Understanding of standard system engineering design artifacts such as Use Cases and SysML diagrams
  • Applicants must have a current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD issued Secret security clearance which is required to start

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Command and control system application development
  • Automated test and pipeline development experience
  • Test driven development
  • Experience developing software for Unix/Linux and Windows platforms
  • Experience with Software Integration testing including developing automated test scrips
  • Experience with Risk Management Framework/STIG/Fortify/SonarQube mitigation

Salary Range: $95,100 USD - $142,700 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
