  • Northrop Grumman Space Systems – Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for an Associate Software Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Colorado Springs, CO. 

     

    Position Overview: 

       

    As part of the Specialized Warfighter Development Contract (SWDC) the Warfighter Simulation and Services (WSS) team offers opportunities to support the U.S. Missile Defense System through the development of Modeling and Simulation (M&S) applications used in warfighter training and exercises, concept evaluation, developmental engineering, testing and verification, and assessment. The selected Associate Software Engineer will support the Missile Defense Advanced Simulation (MDASim) project on the Specialized Warfighter Development Contract (SWDC).  This role designs, develops, tests, documents and integrates simulation products for MDASim using C++ and/or C# programming languages on Windows operating systems. 

     

    Essential Functions:   

     

    • Designing and developing software to model various missile and air defense capabilities and concepts. 

    • Additional responsibilities could include interfacing with MDASim customers and presenting technical briefings to MDASim stakeholders. 

     

    The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and collaborative/team settings across all levels. 

     

    Basic Qualifications:  

    Level 1: BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field and 0-2 years experience

    Level 2: BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field and at least 2 years experience.

    • Active U.S. Government security clearance at the DoD Secret level. 

    • At least 6 months experience with C++ or C#. 

    • At least 6 months experience with engineering M&S systems using an optimistic and/or conservative discrete event simulation platform. 

    • At least 6 months experience with Agile and SAFe. 

    • At least 6 months experience with Jira and Atlassian tools for Agile software development. 

    • Ability and willingness to travel 10% to support business needs.  

     

    Preferred Qualifications:   

    • Experience with software development, including analysis, design, code, test and integration. 

    • Strong, written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills to collaborate effectively with technical teams and customer personnel. 

    • Experience in several of the following: missile defense domain knowledge, command and control, and modeling and simulation development.   


Salary Range: $63,800 USD - $95,800 USD
Salary Range 2: $77,200 USD - $115,800 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
