Northrop Grumman Space Systems – Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Sr. Principal Software Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located out of Colorado Springs, CO.

Position Overview:

Seeking a motivated data analyst to support the C2BMC National Team (NT) in support of analysis of missile tracking and models in the test bed. This individual will be a part of a focused technical team verifying and validating metrics, statistics and descriptive analysis of test data from Missile Defense Systems in development in support of national security. The candidate will participate in research and analysis to identify meaningful metrics, patterns and trends from the test datasets, and use statistical methods to validate or reject hypotheses about the data. Techniques may include visualization, simulation, and system modeling to achieve the desired analysis results.

Essential Functions:

  • As member of the Engineering Support team within the C2BMC NT, they will be responsible for performing analysis of test event data and coordinating observations and resolutions across various Development and Test teams within C2BMC, as well as assisting with coordination with the Missile Defense Agency customer.
  • Assist with the planning, scheduling and development of verification analysis tools.
  • Assist with or support the coordination, development and maintenance of analysis and test tracking tools
  • Ensure proper backup/archiving of test products and analysis datasets (DM)
     

Basic Qualifications:

If applicable, please note your updated security clearance and IAT/relevant certifications on your resume.

  • An active Secret clearance is required.
  • 9 Years with Bachelor’s degree in a related field; 13 years’ experience in lieu of a degree.
  • The candidate should possess technical skills to assist in the development of software tools to evaluate software, algorithms and processes used to build the Command and Control, Battle Management and Communications (C2BMC) element of the Missile Defense System (MDS).
  • The candidate should be able to assist test tool analysts with technical troubleshooting and analysis of test traceability.
  • They should be able to participate in the development of straightforward solutions to technical problems discovered and help develop actionable insights to C2BMC decision makers.
  • Some experience in message-based analysis of complex systems, or other analysis experience.
  • Experience with Object oriented coding skills (i.e. Python, Java, etc), or ability to learn these.
  • Experience with the Linux environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • It is highly desirable that the candidate have experience with message-based analysis and MDS elements or components, to include operational systems (e.g., Aegis, Patriot, GMD, THAAD, SBX) in either a test or operational environment.
  • Experience in the use of COTS modeling, simulation and analysis tools is also desired.
  • Experience with using and maintaining relational databases desired.
  • Experience in the use of software test and analysis tools.
  • Python programming experience. Bash or similar scripting experience.
  • Strong sense of how data "tells a story". Use of spreadsheets for data analysis and associated tools. Experience in manipulation of large data sets.
  • Development and automation of data management processes and tools.

Salary Range: $117,900 USD - $176,900 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
