Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking an DevOps Engineer/Principal DevOps Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position can be located in Melbourne, FL or Palmdale, CA.

We are looking for a passionate engineer to integrate and improve our systems and drive efficiency into the team. You will share in the ownership of the technical vision and direction for advanced analytics systems that change the way we see and integrate data. We are looking for people who are self-motivated, hardworking, and have demonstrated the ability to find innovative solutions to complex technical problems.

Essential Functions:

  • CompTIA Security+ certificate is required to perform role, can be obtained on the job or prior to starting.
  • Understand of the full software lifecycle. (Design, implementation, and unit testing of software)
  • Work with various team members to automate and integrate functionality with other software environment.
  • Automate scheduled jobs to reduce labor intensive tasks. (i.e. Scheduling tasks and automating deployments of new/updated scripts.)
  • Work with Atlassian application suite (Jira, Confluence, Bamboo, Bitbucket)
  • Work with other pipeline tools (e.g. Jenkins, Airflow)
  • Enhance ETL processes and deploy code changes.
  • Scripting in some or all: Python, SQL, Java Script

This requisition may be filled at either a DevOps Engineer or a Principal DevOps Engineer based on the qualifications listed below.

Basic Qualifications for DevOps Engineer:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) field with 2   years of experience in DevOps OR Master's degree in a STEM field with 0 years of experience NOTE: Four (4) years of additional experience can be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • Experience with RedHat Linux and/or Windows servers.
  • Comfortable with python or similar object-oriented programming language
  • Comfortable in SQL (MS SQL preferred)
  • Familiarity with the Atlassian tool suite, and plugins, Git and Confluence.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret level security clearance and special program access

Basic Qualifications for Principal DevOps Engineer:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) field with 5 years of experience in DevOps OR Master's degree in a STEM field with 3 years of experience in DevOps engineering
  • NOTE: Four (7) years of additional experience can be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • Experience with RedHat Linux and/or Windows servers.
  • Proficient in python or similar object-oriented programming language
  • Proficient in SQL, MS SQL preferred.
  • Familiarity with the Atlassian tool suite, and plugins, Git and Confluence.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret level security clearance and special program access

Preferred Qualifications for DevOps Engineer:

  • Current CompTIA Sec+ Certificate
  • 2+ years of experience in automation applications and frameworks
  • Ability to lead a team and /or provide leadership to drive solutions of complex problem
  • Experience with Linux and Microsoft Windows development and configuration
  • Familiarity with the Agile software development process
  • Experience in Source Code Version Control (Bitbucket, Gitlab, Github)
  • Experience in automation servers (Bamboo, Jenkins)
  • Experience in software containerization (Docker)
  • Experience in Configuration Management and Deployment (Ansible, SaltStack)
  • Experience with Application Containerization
  • Experience with RabbitMQ or other message software
  • Experience integrating continuous integration and continuous development CI/CD into workflows.
  • Experience with JavaScript, HTML, CSS
  • Active DoD Secret level security clearance

This position reports to Melbourne, FL, USA, however, this position can also be worked from Palmdale, CA, CA, USA.


Salary Range: $71,100 USD - $123,600 USD
Salary Range 2: $87,600 USD - $152,200 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
