Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Principal / Senior Principal Software Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Systems Integration, Test and Evaluation organization. This role is located in Melbourne, FL.

The selected candidate will develop, integrate, test, document, and deliver software in support of system integration testing. The candidate will have the opportunity to take ownership of difficult problems and drive to a solution while working in a supportive team environment. 

Your responsibilities will also include:

  • Develop, modify, maintain, and test software using software engineering best practices and standards
  • Participate in the full life cycle of software development, to include requirements development, application development, modular testing, integration, formal system testing, release, installation, and upgrades
  • Apply technical expertise in solving complex integration problems  
  • Interact frequently with Program Management, external suppliers and/or government customers
  • Leadership in Object Oriented Design and implementation
  • Work in small team of diverse skill sets

Basic Qualifications:

  • [T3] Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering from an accredited university AND 5 years of experience OR a masters and 3 years of experience.
  • [T4] Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering from an accredited university AND 9 years of experience OR a masters and 7 years of experience.
  • Demonstrated strong programming skills
  • Experience writing modeling and simulation software
  • Enthusiasm OR knowledge of software Design Patterns
  • Familiarity with software management tools (e.g. JIRA, Bitbucket, Git, Subversion, Cmake)
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance with Special Program Access (PAR/SAP)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hands on experience with Modern C++ (C++11 at a minimum, hopefully C++14) within an Agile environment
  • Active DoD Secret clearance (in-scope)
  • Current Special Program Access (PAR/SAP)
  • Experience with GTest (or equivalent) and Mocking software


Salary Range: $90,400 USD - $135,600 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
