Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for either an Associate Software Engineer or Software Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Melbourne, Florida.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Develop, modify, and maintain customized or standardized embedded Mission Systems applications using software engineering best practices and standards.
  • Participate in the full life-cycle of software development, to include requirements development, modeling and design, application development, unit to CSCI testing, integration, formal system testing, release, installation, and maintenance.

This position can be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below.  This requisition may be filled at either a Principal Software Engineer level or Sr Principal Software Engineer level.

Basic Qualifications for Principal Software Engineer:

  • Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree and 5-years of experience in software engineering OR a Master’s degree with 3-years’ experience.
  • Experience developing software with C/C++, Java, or Python
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret Clearance as well as Program Special Access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs

Basic Qualifications for Sr Principal Software Engineer:

  • Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree and 9-years of experience in software engineering OR a Master’s degree with 7-years’ experience.
  • Experience developing software with C/C++, Java, or Python
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret Clearance as well as Program Special Access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience developing software for embedded systems
  • Experience integrating and debugging software on hardware
  • Experience working within an Agile environment
  • Experience with software development tools such as Eclipse, Git, Rhapsody, DOORS, CMake, VectorCAST. Atlassian Tools (Jira, Bitbucket, Confluence, Crucible, Bamboo)
  • Familiarity with MIL-STD-1553
  • Knowledge of Linux systems and basic commands
  • Active DoD Secret (or higher) clearance (with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation)
  • Program Special Access

Salary Range: $90,400 USD - $135,600 USD
Salary Range 2: $112,000 USD - $168,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
