Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Virtual Simulation Software Engineer / Virtual Simulation Principal Software Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Melbourne FL.
 
Essential Functions:
- The qualified candidate will develop software to simulate real-time operations and behavior of systems for virtual simulation (pilot in the loop) testing so that future tactical aircraft can be evaluated in next generation air warfare mission environments.  
- The candidate will develop new and/or integrate existing system simulation frameworks, weapon systems components to include air vehicle platform, kinematics, sensors, communications , command & control, weapons, and threat performance models and algorithms.  
- The candidate will integrate and use advanced graphical user interfaces and visualization tools.
- The candidate will model operational environments, and perform trade studies via computer simulation resulting in recommendations for alternative system architectures and configurations.  
- The candidate will perform operational analysis and mission effectiveness analysis.
- The candidate may support the design and development of visualization models and databases for integration with a high fidelity simulation environment used for strategic simulation and training.
- The candidate may support evaluations to determine the best frameworks, hardware, capabilities, and tools available to create simulations and experiences that enhance the Virtual Simulation product.

This requisition may be filled at either a Software Engineer level or Principal Software Engineer level.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Software Engineer: Bachelor’s Degree and 2 years of related professional/military experience OR Master's Degree
  • Principal Software Engineer: Bachelor’s Degree and 5 years of related professional/military experience OR Master's Degree and 3 years of related experience
  • Demonstrated proficiency with computer/engineering modeling using Java, C#/C++ or other object oriented computer language.
  • Must have an active DoD Top Secret clearance (with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline
  • An understanding of tactical aircraft aero-performance, sensors, weapons, and communication
  • An understanding of Integrated Air Defense Systems and capabilities.
  • Proven ability to work with a team in a rapid prototyping environment.
  • Competent writing and communications skills.
  • Experience with performing weapon system level design, integration, or test & evaluation
  • The ability to translate Physics/Mathematics models into real-time simulation algorithms and models.
  • Experience with real time simulation/software development.

Salary Range: $73,400 USD - $110,000 USD
Salary Range 2: $90,400 USD - $135,600 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
