Northrop Grumman Defense Systems Sector has a need for a Senior Principal Embedded Software Engineer / Staff Embedded Software Engineer at its Subsystem and Software Sustainment (S&SS) organization in Warner Robins, GA. This engineering position is for a role on our Application Software Engineering Team. In this role you will be supporting the APN-241 Radar Program. You will be an integral part of an interdisciplinary team of engineers focused on the modernization and sustainment of the APN-241 system. Our ideal candidate will possess technical expertise and collaborative people skills with the proven ability to work within a technically diverse and fast-paced team. This position is located in Warner Robins, GA

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Serve as a software and systems subject matter expert in a wide range of technical areas that include algorithm development, data analysis, system troubleshooting, system testing, and software development

  • Develop, modify, and maintain software using software engineering best practices and standards. 

  • Software development including automated testing to facilitate and analyze large data sets.

  • Participate in the full life cycle of software development, to include requirements development, modeling and design, software development, unit to CSCI testing, integration, formal system testing, release, installation, and maintenance.

  • Apply technical expertise in solving complex integration problems.  

  • The candidate must have the ability to lead, communicate, support, and collaborate on technical issues for the program

This position may be filled as either a Sr. Principal Embedded Software Engineer or Staff Embedded Software Engineer.

Basic Qualifications for Sr. Principal Embedded Software Engineer:

  • Bachelor of Science (B.S) degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or an equivalent STEM related discipline

  • Minimum of 9 years of direct relevant experience with B.S degree; Minimum of 7 years of direct relevant experience with Masters degree; Minimum of 5 years of direct relevant experience with PhD.

  • Expert in C/C++

  • Exceptional experience in all areas of formal software lifecycle process from requirements to testing

  • Proven leadership experience on software development programs

  • Experience in object-oriented analysis and design

  • Must currently hold or be able to obtain and maintain a U.S Department of Defense (DoD) Secret level security clearance

Basic Qualifications for Staff Embedded Software Engineer

  • Bachelor of Science (B.S) degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or an equivalent STEM related discipline

  • Minimum of 14 years of direct relevant experience with B.S degree; Minimum of 12 years of direct relevant experience with Masters degree; Minimum of 10 years of direct relevant experience with PhD

  • Expert in C/C++

  • Exceptional experience in all areas of formal software lifecycle process from requirements to testing

  • Proven leadership experience on software development programs

  • Experience in object-oriented analysis and design

  • Must currently hold or be able to obtain and maintain a U.S Department of Defense (DoD) Secret level security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expert knowledge in RADAR systems and concepts

  • Expert knowledge in DSP

  • Expert knowledge in embedded systems and RTOS

  • Experience in Java

  • Experience using JIRA/Bitbucket and Git/Mercurial/Bazaar version control tools

  • Experience using LabVIEW

  • Experience using MATLAB

  • Experience working in a fast pace, Agile environment with the ability to work on a cross-functional Scrum team focused on quality and capability delivery

  • Experience with Electronic Warfare (EW) principles

  • Experience in Automated Testing Techniques

  • Active Secret Security Clearance


Salary Range: $112,000 USD - $168,000 USD
Salary Range 2: $139,000 USD - $208,600 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
