Join us on the edge… The Cutting Edge!    The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's Mission Connectivity team who's goal is to create the factory of the future by implementing an Industrial Internet Of Things to enable connectivity, analytics, and intelligence required for our cutting edge processes.

This position can be performed as a virtual telecommuter.

We are looking at hiring at Level 2 or Level 3, depending upon the candidate's education and experience.

The successful software engineer will work with subject matter experts to analyze IT systems, interface with process engineers to determine key data to collect, evaluate available interface of connecting equipment, design and develop software (Primarily Java and Groovy) to retrieve and process data streaming from the factory floor and interface with other pillar systems in our factory.  The engineer will work within an agile team, and the ability to communicate, design, document, and review with other developers, architects, and business representatives on the team is of paramount importance.  This is a rapidly growing team and an excellent opportunity for growth moving forward. 

Basic Qualifications for a Level 2:

  • BS in Computer Science or similar discipline
  • 2 years of software development experience
  • Ability to work effectively with remote team members
  • Able to apply engineering techniques and analytical methods to make recommendations for improvements and provide information and assistance to interfacing teams
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
  • High level of ownership of tasks and problems, ability to bring issues to closure independently and completely
  • US Citizenship is required for this position

  • Ability to work effectively with remote team members
  • Able to apply engineering techniques and analytical methods to make recommendations for improvements and provide information and assistance to interfacing teams
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
  • High level of ownership of tasks and problems, ability to bring issues to closure independently and completely
  • US Citizenship is required for this position

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Java or other object- oriented programming language
  • Experience connecting IOT devices
  • Experience in manufacturing
  • Experience writing and utilizing unit tests
  • Experience using and/or creating CI/CD pipelines such as with Jenkins
  • Experience working with or integrating to a Manufacturing Execution System
  • Experience with Agile practices and/or Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
  • Experience with Agile tools such as Jira or TFS/AZDO


Salary Range: $74,900 USD - $112,300 USD
Salary Range 2: $92,200 USD - $138,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
