Join a design community that offers unique design challenges that combine the talents of multiple engineering disciplines including Hardware, Firmware, Software, Mechanical Design, Systems Engineering and Program Management.

Typical Assignments:

Designs, develops, operates and maintains software and firmware components and computing systems software to be applied to and integrated with engineering, scientific and manufacturing requirements. Applies the appropriate standards, processes, procedures and tools throughout the system development life cycle to support the generation of such engineering applications and products such as laboratory simulation systems, aircraft flight control and display systems, pacemakers, defibrillators, mechanical and electrical systems. Interfaces with customers, suppliers, application users and other technical and support personnel.

  • Design creative and flexible HW/SW solutions with a motivated team of experts
    • HW Design Examples:
      • Electronic Circuit Board Design
      • Automated Test Equipment Interfaces
      • JTAG chains
      • Power Circuits
    • SW Design Examples:
      • Process Automation
      • Instrument Drivers and Utilities
      • UI/UX Design
      • Real Time, Pre and Post Processing Data Analytics
    • SW/HW integration
    • Requirements verification
  • Actively support the investigation, resolution and documentation of product anomalies
  • Understanding Design to Cost

Candidates will be considered at both Level 2 and Level 3 per the requirements listed below.

Basic T2 Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related STEM discipline
  • T2 Requirements: 2 years professional experience with Bachelor of Science.
  • Ability to read and create schematics
  • Experience in electronic hardware design
  • Experience with software control of test equipment. (Relevant Classwork will be considered in lieu of professional experience)
  • Experience with lab test equipment (such as DMM and O-Scopes)
  • Experience with HW/SW integration
  • Experience working with Linux Operating system command line applications
  • Understanding of  JTAG interface and Usage
  • Experience working with  Linux Ethernet interfaces and configuration
  • Experience working with  Linux user permissions and application / folder permissions
  • Experience working with Linux file system concepts, navigation, mounting, common folders and their usage.
  • Understanding of Serial Communications concepts and troubleshooting.
  • Secret clearance with ability to obtain SAP-SAR
  • Effective verbal and written communication

  • Ability to read and create schematics
  • Experience with electronic hardware design
  • Experience with software control of test equipment.
  • Experience with lab test equipment (such as DMM and O-Scopes)
  • Experience with HW/SW integration
  • Effective verbal and written communication
  • Experience working with Linux Operating system command line applications
  • Understanding of  JTAG interface and Usage
  • Experience working with  Linux Ethernet interfaces and configuration
  • Experience working with  Linux user permissions and application / folder permissions

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in electronic controls design
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in software design
  • Experience with schematic design tools (e.g., Mentor Graphics, Zuken…etc.)
  • Experience with hands-on troubleshooting of electrical hardware
  • Multilayer PCB Layout experience a plus
  • Experience with JTAG Boundary Scans Software packages
  • Firmware design experience a plus
  • Experience with LabWindows CVI a big plus
  • Leadership experience
  • Experience with Linux networking concepts: DHCP, fixed IP addressing, routing, and high level troubleshooting
  • Experience with command shell and shell scripting.
  • Experience with Remote Desktop (RDP), File Transfer Protocol (FTP), Secure Shell (SSH), and Telnet.
  • Experience with various Linux distributions such as Ubuntu, Red Hat, Debian, etc.
  • Experience with the architecture of Linux operating system, Kernel, Drivers, User Environment.
  • Experience with Networking Hardware Configurations, Routers, Switches, Servers, etc.
  • Experience with ClearCase
  • Experience with FPGA Programming (Microsemi, Xilnx, et)
  • Experience with Flash Programming
  • Familiarity with JTAG, Ethernet and RS232 interfaces
  • Familiarity with Programmable Power Supplies
  • Experience with SQL Database
  • Experience with Microsoft Visual C++
  • Experience with ISE/Cadstar

Salary Range: $78,600 USD - $118,000 USD
Salary Range 2: $96,900 USD - $145,300 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
