Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Software Algorithm Developer Engineer C++, C# or Java  to develop, document, test, and debug solutions to business/mission problems.  The position supports our Engineering organization’s goals to meet the current and future needs of the programs and technologies within the sector portfolio.  This role will help foster the establishment and maintenance of a world class Engineering organization working in Hollywood, MD.

The selected candidate will join the team in a strong matrix organization, collaborating with peers across the organization.  The successful candidate will clearly demonstrate strong leadership skills to achieve sustainable top performance.  He/she will have a track record as an effective communicator and problem solver who is able to develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.  This candidate will demonstrate a commitment to ethics and integrity, and the capability to innovate while challenging traditional ways of doing business.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors in Science with 5 years of experience; Masters with 3 years of
    experience; PhD with 0 years of experience
  • Bachelors of Science in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or other STEM discipline, with 9 years of relevant experience –OR– Master’s degree in STEM with 7 years of relevant experience - OR - PhD with 4 years of experience
  • Strong C++ development skills and experience designing/implementing complex algorithms

For Senior Principal Software Algorithm Developer:

  • 5 years industry experience with Object Oriented Languages (OOL), any combination of Java, C#, C++
  • Or  3 years industry experience with OOL and a Masters in a Computer Science discipline

For Senior Principal Software Algorithm Developer:

  • 8years industry experience with Object Oriented Languages (OOL), any combination of Java, C#, C++
  • Or 6 years industry experience with OOL and a Masters in a Computer Science discipline
  • Knowledge designing/implementing/maintaining C# desktop applications
  • Experience using modern technologies (REST, gRPC, Docker, Microservices, etc.)
  • Experience working within an Agile development team
  • Active DoD Secret or higher clearance (investigation completed less than 5 years ago)Ability to obtain and maintain a Special Access Program (SAP)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active DoD Top Secret Clearance
  • DevOps experience
  • Previous experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipeline development
  • General Mission Planning knowledge
  • Routing Knowledge
  • Algorithm Development experience

Salary Range: $104,600 USD - $157,000 USD
Salary Range 2: $129,700 USD - $194,500 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
