Overview

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking Manager of Embedded Software Engineering 3. The selected person or this position will be the section lead of a Systems team in the Software and Digital Technologies functional organization. Position requires being on-site at NG office in Bethpage, NY; hybrid work environment.

This is a dual-role manager position, involving balancing both the overall Functional oversight and management of Software Engineering group on a program or several programs.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • This role will focus on two primary areas of responsibility: team leadership and management, and team technical performance
  • Responsibilities include the oversight and addressing of cost, schedule, and technical quality for large system development contracts as well as software performance on major systems integration-type contracts
  • There is additional functional oversight of approximately 80+ software engineers of varied disciplines working multiple programs, IRAD initiatives, and new business capture opportunities with strategic importance for significant downstream value
  • Also responsible for staffing and workload forecast; support and adherence to standard software processes; Agile Framework; DevSecOps; lessons learned; and employee engagement, mentoring and career development, including training and identification and training of skills required to execute on programs
  • This includes the recruiting, sourcing, onboarding, and contract maintenance for the contractors working in the business area
  • Work closely with the directors and managers of other engineering disciplines, program directors, and program managers
  • Other duties as required

Basic Qualifications:

  • Typically requires 14+ Years with Bachelors in Science; 12 Years with Masters; 9 Years with PhD.
  • Expertise in embedded C/C++ Software development, and SDLC
  • Experience in Agile, and DevSecOps
  • Previous experience managing large-scale SW development projects, and 8+ direct reports
  • Demonstrate strong leadership skills and will have a track record as an effective communicator and problem solver who is able to develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Able to demonstrate a broad skill set that is balanced among interpersonal, business, and technical capabilities
  • Demonstrate the ability to operate in a team environment and collaborate across the sector business areas as required to accomplish the team goals
  • US Citizenship and an active Security clearance, Secret or higher

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the electromagnetic maneuver warfare domain
  • Experience managing a function team, and 1st level managers
  • Experience in proposal writing, and Basis of Estimates (BOE)
  • Active TS Security clearance with SCI eligibility

Salary Range: $176,100 USD - $264,100 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
