Northrop Grumman Space Systems Sector is looking for you to join our team as a Sr. Principal Software Engineer based out of Morrisville NC, Fairfax VA, or Linthicum MD. 

We are looking for an experienced Software Engineer that likes troubleshooting.  This individual possesses the skills to investigate and troubleshoot common problems like node failures, cluster failures, and Kubernetes pod failures.  You should be familiar with AWS - EC2, S3, Route53, DynamoDB, EFS, Elastic Load Balancing, Regional replication, Failover and redundancy. If you have experience with Kubernetes. Storage, auto scaling, maintenance, Failover, and redundancy you might be the engineer we need.  This individual may also do some general systems administration and patching. They should be familiar with the monitoring, logging, reporting, and alerting of a system.  Understanding of how helm charts are deployed, maintained and updated would also be a benefit.

Basic Qualifications:

• Sr. Principal Software Engineer:  Bachelor’s degree with 9 + years of software development experience; 7 years with a Master's; 4 years with a PhD; or 14 years of software development experience in lieu of a degree

• Candidate must have a current/active Top Secret/SCI security clearance to be considered

• Candidate must be able to obtain a Counterintelligence Polygraph (CI-Poly)

• Kubernetes

• Experience with AWS/C2S

• Experience with Dynamo DB

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Agile software development using Python and/or C++ software development in a Red Hat Enterprise Linux environment

• Knowledge of Helm charts and how helm charts are deployed

• Experienced as a systems admin (patching, updating)

• Experience supporting operational systems

• Experience supporting distributed systems

• Experience working in Virtualized Environments (VMs, AWS Cloud Instances)

• Experience with Atlassian tools (JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket)

• Experience working with AWS Services

• Experience with Dockerization and Container Management (Dockers and Kubernetes)

• Previous exposure to working with ground systems (scheduling, tasking, antennas, working with hardware interfaces)

• Current Counterintelligence Polygraph (CI-Poly) completed within the last 5 years

This position reports to Morrisville, NC, USA, however, you are able to work from any of the additional 2 locations listed above.

Salary Range: $117,900 USD - $194,500 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
