The selected individual will be a part of a team developing a Secure Processor ASIC as well as a full SDK (libraries, drivers, tools). Embedded SW developers will be assigned to one of several agile teams depending on their skillset and the needs of the program.  Needs include embedded linux development (kernel & userspace), experience developing in an RTOS environment, and device driver development.  Cryptographic concepts and experience using crypto APIs is a plus.  Work will include code development in C and model development in C++. The selected individual will actively participate in technical peer reviews to ensure system/software requirements are being met from an end-to-end system point of view. Work is completed in a collaborative environment and system specialists will be made available to assist with any activities associated with executing primary tasking. However, the selected individuals will be expected to prioritize and make recommendations to Technical Leads, as required, to implement tasking assigned.

This position is in Beavercreek, Oh.

Basic Qualifications for Staff Embedded Software Engineer:

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in science, engineering, or related discipline with 14 years of experience; or 12 years of relevant experience with a Masters (MS) degree; or 9 years with a PhD

  • Demonstrated Experience with C, C++, Python or other high-order languages in real-time embedded applications

  • Solid understanding of software development processes for real-time embedded applications

  • Clearance: US Citizenship is required with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance and SAP prior to starting employment if necessary

Preferred Qualifications include experience with any of the following:

  • Micro-controllers and HW modeling

  • Developing multi-threaded applications in RTOS environment

  • Linux kernel and user space development

  • Hardware (how low/high speed I/O works, QSPI, DMA) working with hardware from a test and debug perspective.

  • UEFI cryptography or cryptography basics (familiarity using openSSL)

  • Designing and implementing complex algorithms requiring strict timing, systems resource managed, and interface constraints

  • Collaboration tools like Jira and Confluence

  • Modernized software development processes (e.g. Agile, DevOps, DevSecOps)

  • Leading small software development teams and ensuring work is completed in accordance with design and development processes

This position offers the option of a 9/80 work schedule. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work nine-hour days Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Salary Range: $146,300 USD - $219,500 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
