Northrop Grumman Space Systems (NGSP) seeks a talented professional to join the engineering team in Dayton, OH as a Software & Digital Technologies (SWDT) Functional Manager Level 2 managing a team of Software engineers and working directly with program management, business development and other engineering organizations.

This is a dual role encompassing both functional management and technical performance within a program. The successful candidate will clearly demonstrate strong leadership skills to achieve sustainable top performance. He/she will have a track record as an effective communicator and problem solver who is able to develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. This candidate will demonstrate a commitment to ethics and integrity, and the capability to innovate while challenging traditional ways of doing business.  Demonstrated abilities to build diverse and inclusive teams with high levels of engagement, including mentoring and coaching, are a must.  Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required and the ideal candidate will have demonstrated success collaborating and leading Engineering teams.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 9 years related experience in Software or System Administration, a Master's degree + 7 years of exp, a PhD + 4 years, or 13 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree
• Must be experienced in all aspects of the engineering development lifecycle
• Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Effective communication and presentation skills
• The ability to successfully prioritize tasks and obligations
• Independent problem solving of complex technical and personnel problems
• High proficiency of technical problem solving
• Experience working with both internal and external customers and partners
• This position requires US Citizenship and an active Top Secret/SSBI clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's degree in a relevant technical or management specialty
• Active Top Secret/SCI clearance
• Direct supervisory experience and/or significant team leadership such as IPT or equivalent role
• More than 8 years of development experience in C/C++
• Unix/Linux operating system experience (e.g. RHEL)
• Process improvement experience
• Agile development experience
• Configuration management (e.g. Git)
• Project scheduling and budget experience (e.g. CAM)
• Experience with DoD programs and processes.

Salary Range: $134,400 USD - $201,600 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
