Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Principal Real-Time Embedded Software Engineer. This position can be located in Roy, Utah and will support the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program. 

What You’ll Get To Do: 

The selected candidate will be responsible for developing software for the Command & Launch (C&L) Software Team.  Using DevOps and Agile methodologies you will be constantly optimizing systems and services for security, automation, and performance/availability, while ensuring solutions developed adhere and align to the baseline systems designs, configuration management, and architecture standards. You will work closely in a DevOps environment with the program personnel to ensure smooth execution of continuous integration and test. The selected candidate for this role will work on software systems primarily in C/C++ development, with a focus on  Real-Time Operating System (RTOS) software design for Single Board Computers (SBC) (e.g., Wind River, Green Hills Software)

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.   

Job Qualifications: 

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or related STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) discipline

  • Principal: 5 Years of experience with Bachelors in Science; 3 Years with Masters; 0 Years with PhD

  • Sr Principal: 9 Years of experience with Bachelors in Science; 7 Years with Masters; 0 Years with PhD

  • US Citizenship and ability to obtain Secret Clearance and Special Program Access (SAP)

  • Direct experience implementing embedded software in real-time systems

  • Experience with low level Operating System drivers, boot-up, and hardware integration

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

  • Experience with Software Development Lifecycle (Requirements, Design, Implementation, Integration, and Test)

  • Experience with C/C++

  • Experience with DO-178C standards and levels

  • Embedded/multi-threaded application programming experience

  • RTOS Board Support Package (BSP) experience

  • Experience with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence, etc) for Agile development and continuous integration

  • Experience with Linux (Redhat) (Servers and Workstations)

  • Excellent communications and teamwork skills

  • Implementation experience with command and control systems

  • Automation experience via scripting (e.g. Perl, Python, etc)

  • Experience with SonarQube

  • Experience operating in test lab systems

  • Experience documenting configuration of systems, including troubleshooting approach/methodology

  • Experience with command and control, missile, launch, and/or warning systems

  • Experience with hardware and working closely with hardware engineers

  • Active Top Secret security clearance with adjudication in the last 6 years

Salary Range: $90,400 USD - $168,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
