Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Manager Software Engineering 2. This position is located in Roy, UT and supports the Sentinel program.
What You’ll Get To Do:
This position is a dual-hat position requiring the candidate to perform functional management activities as well as program responsibilities. It is expected that the Functional management role will comprise up to 20% of the candidate's time. The candidate will be responsible for assessing staffing needs, current as well as projected and working with the respective team leads to address those needs. He/she will also be responsible for supporting recruitment activities including the creation of requisitions, conducting interviews, and approving offers.
The candidate will also be responsible for leading a team of system software engineers, providing guidance, and assigning work regarding the system software architecture & requirements of GNC software to ensure alignment with system architecture.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
You’ll Bring These Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree with 6 years of software development experience or master’s with 4 years of experience. 4 additional years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
- At least 1-year experience leading a project and/or driving performance against schedule
- Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with an ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need
- Experience with Agile principles to include Kanban, Scrum
- Experience leading Software Engineering teams
- Experience with Earned Value Management System (EVMS)
- Experience in software development using languages such as C++, Python
- Experience with MBSE, software design & requirement management
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have (PQs)
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
- Strong critical thinking and logical reasoning skills with the ability to solve issues and predict potential programmatic and technical risks
- Operates independently with limited to no supervision, and the ability to establish a solid working relationship with technical staff, peers, and customers
- Able to assimilate information from multiple sources, create coherent plans and then execute those plans
- Experience with executing software development processes
- CAM certification or willingness to obtain within first 6 months
- Familiarization with DO178 and process that covers software development lifecycle
- Understands best practices required for the development of Safety Critical Software Development
