Northrop Grumman Space Systems (NGSP) seeks to fill a Principal Software Engineer/Sr Principal Software Engineer role in the Payload and Ground Systems Division Engineering organization supporting Integrated National Systems (INS) Business Unit (BU) in Fairfax, VA.

The selected individual requires expert level software development skills and will be responsible for leading design teams in all phases of the software development lifecycle including design, development, and test. Candidates should have a solid foundation with best practices in software design, Continuous Integration / Continuous Deliver (CI/CD) tools and processes, and object-oriented programming.  Candidates should be familiar with the Agile methodology of software development.

This position requires onsite work at our Fairfax, VA location.

Basic Qualifications:

• Principal Software Engineer: Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of software development experience; 3 years with a Master's; 0 years with a PhD; or 9 years of software development experience in lieu of a degree

• Sr. Principal Software Engineer: Bachelor’s degree with 9 + years of software development experience; 7 years with a Master's; 4 years with a PhD; or 14 years of software development experience in lieu of a degree

• Candidate must have a current/active Top Secret/SCI security clearance with Counterintelligence Polygraph (CI-Poly)

• Experience with DevSecOps pipeline tools and concepts such as Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment, Quality gate, Jenkins, and Docker

• Experience with Agile tools such as Jira, Git

Preferred Qualifications:

• Strong skills in various software development skills in an Agile environment including design and architecture, implementation, optimization, automated testing, and documentation

• Professional experience with Web Development and Microservices

• Professional experience with Jenkins shared library using Groovy scripting language

• Professional experience with Docker, Helm and Kubernetes

• Professional experience with SonarQube, Twistlock, Fortify

Salary Range: $104,600 USD - $157,000 USD

Salary Range 2: $129,700 USD - $194,500 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
