Salary: £70,000 - £85,000

About Your Opportunity:

In this role, you are a key member of the Defence Underwater Account who leads and develops a multi-disciplined System Engineering team through engagement, coaching and providing technical guidance to focus the team on the delivery of our programmes. You will supports the System Engineering Practice Lead to grow the technical capability of our people, processes and technology.

Your Responsibilities:

• Proactively recruiting into team to ensure programme teams are adequately resourced with suitably qualified and experienced engineers, raising requests for training as required, whilst supporting the Engineering Authority to develop and maintain workforce plans covering resourcing, training and development.
• Lead, engage and coach the team to deliver the planned outputs to time, cost and quality, prioritising work, resolving issues or escalating as necessary
• Provide technical direction for the team, working collaboratively and seeking guidance from the Engineering Authority and Defence Chief Technologist.
• Supports the Engineering Authority in engaging team in the Account strategy; making sure that the work being done is current and aligned with the Technical Strategy.
• Participate as a member of the Practice Panel with the development of the Strategy that sets the bar for future best practice, capability and expertise for our people.  

Your Experience:

• Degree-qualified in a relevant engineering / technical subject
• Evidenced substantial experience in a Systems Engineering role, with excellent of System Engineering models and techniques.
• Experience of systems requirements management, definition, design, integration, acceptance and analysis
• Experience of Team leadership with a strong aptitude for managing and developing people
• Able to work with people effectively at all levels, using well-developed influencing and interpersonal skills
