Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Senior Principal Systems Engineer / Principal Systems Engineer. This position will be located in Roy, UT, Huntsville, AL or Colorado Springs, CO and will support the Sentinel (GBSD) program. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package. This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below.

 

What you’ll get to do:   

• Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), develop of requirements and multiple system engineering models
• Performing customer requirements elicitation leading to Requirements Development
• Coordination & collaboration with the System Engineering and Command & Launch Segment System Engineering Teams
• Supporting system, segment, element and unit level trade studies
• Definition of high-level functional and performance requirements and verification methods, subsequent analysis, decomposition, and derivation of requirements, allocation of those lower-level requirements to physical and functional architectural elements, and tracking them through design, verification, integration, and operational validation
• Supporting a team of engineers to create, mature and present comprehensive and cohesive technical charts representative of the appropriate level of maturation for any given milestone meeting and demonstrating team readiness in relation to achieving the milestone entrance and exit criteria
• Identifying required contractual deliverables and non-contractual documentation and driving corresponding updates to closure
• Coordinating and collaborating with diverse engineering design teams to assist in managing the technical baseline

•  This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.  

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

• Systems Engineer:  Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) discipline from an ABET accredited university; 2 years of experience performing in a Systems Engineering or related technical discipline; 0 years with a Master’s degree
• Principal Engineer: Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) discipline from an ABET accredited university; 5 years of experience performing in a Systems Engineering or related technical discipline; 3 years with a Master’s degree; 0 years with a Master’s degree
• Active DoD Secret security clearance with an investigation date within the last 6 years
• Understanding of systems engineering principles and processes
• Demonstrated communication skills and flexibility
• Proficiency in MS Office

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

• A current DoD Top Secret clearance with capability for SAP access
• Effectively communicate and present to project and program management, other technical managers and customers
• Direct experience using the DOORS Requirements Management Database and CAMEO
• Familiarity with Model- Driven Systems Engineering languages (SysML /UML) and concepts and CORE knowledge a plus
• Excellent technical writing skills, and team building skills
• Subcontractor technical oversight experience

This position reports to Huntsville, AL, USA, however, you are able to work from any of the additional 2 locations listed above.

Salary Range: $71,100 USD - $112,300 USD

Salary Range 2: $87,600 USD - $138,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
