Northrop Grumman Space Systems – Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Principal DOORS Systems Engineer/ Sr. Principal DOORS Systems Engineer to support the Next Generation Interceptor (NGI) program.  You will be joining our team of qualified, diverse individuals.

The NGI DOORS engineer is part of the Digital Engineering team supporting all aspects of the NGI program. This position requires someone that is comfortable working in a very dynamic Agile environment, where tasking may change week to week, sometimes day to day.

Essential Functions:

  • DOORS importing/exporting, updating training materials, and acting as an interface to other DOORS users (internal and external), managing account access, and creating archives.
  • Maintaining consistent practices within the DOORS environment, which includes data created internal to programs and modules received from the customer and subcontractors.
  • Driving the completeness and consistency of attributes and linkages within programs’ DOORS environments
  • Performing DOORS administration; creating modules for sites; synchronizing modules between sites; exporting DOORS reports (e.g., specifications traceability and metrics); and working user problems (e.g., installation, use of Change Proposal System)
  • Interact with other disciplines, customers, management and peers to ensure the requirements and interfaces are clear, concise and captured in a DOORS database.
  • Provide cross functional support for requirements management utilizing IBM Rational Dynamic Object-Oriented Requirements System (DOORS) as an administrator on multiple programs.

Basic Qualifications:

This position may be filled at either a Principal DOORS Systems Engineer or a Sr. Principal DOORS Systems Engineer level.

Principal Systems Engineer:

  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM with 5 years’ experience; 3 years with Masters; 0 with PHD
  • Independent problem-solving skills, strong analytical abilities, and creativity
  • Database archiving and user-access management to include importing data into a database.
  • Must have US Citizenship with the ability to obtain a security clearance.
  • IBM DOORS Administration experience
  • IBM DOORS DXL scripting experience
  • Current or active Secret Clearance

Sr. Principal Systems Engineer:

  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM with 9 years’ experience; 7 years with Masters; 4 with PHD
  • Independent problem-solving skills, strong analytical abilities, and creativity
  • Database archiving and user-access management to include importing data into a database.
  • Must have US Citizenship with the ability to obtain a security clearance.
  • IBM DOORS Administration experience
  • IBM DOORS DXL scripting experience
  • Current or active Secret Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Systems Engineering principles.
  • Requirements and data management experience on large complex development programs
  • Experience coding in Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) and Javascript
  • Experience exporting DOORS data using IBM Rational Publishing Engineer


Salary Range: $95,100 USD - $142,700 USD
Salary Range 2: $117,900 USD - $176,900 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
