The Tactical Space Systems I&T Mechanical Engineering organization seeks to fill an Engineering Manager 2 position for our Gilbert, AZ location. This is a dual role position encompassing both functional management and technical performance supporting current programs and initiatives. The successful candidate will clearly demonstrate strong leadership skills to achieve sustainable top performance. He/she will have a track record as an effective communicator and problem solver who is able to develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders and customers. This candidate will demonstrate a commitment to ethics and integrity, and the capability to innovate while challenging traditional ways of doing business. Demonstrated abilities to build diverse and inclusive teams with high levels of engagement, including mentoring and coaching, are a must.

What You’ll get to Do:

 FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Staffing support and workload forecasting
  • Conducting periodic performance evaluations, including written and 1 on 1 mid-year and annual reviews
  • Providing leadership and guidance to the staff
  • Managing indirect and capital needs
  • Training coordination and assessments of the Mechanical Engineering Team
  • Professional development and mentoring of direct reports
  • Supporting Functional Homeroom initiatives and projects which includes but is not limited to: process improvements, event response teams, corrective and preventive action implementation, safety initiatives, Capex, Career Goal planning, and associated business activities/processes.
  • Support Cross Functional, Cross Division and Community of Practice collaborative efforts.
  • Ownership for factory standard processes.

 PROGRAM RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Leading a team of Mechanical Engineers that support multiple spacecraft and/or product lines.
  • Develop mechanical execution plans to meet program schedules
  • Providing mechanical operation status to upper management and the customer
  • Problem Solving, Root Cause/Corrective Actions
  • Providing Technical guidance to engineering staff
  • Support various Program Mechanical Activities
  • Supports/ Operational Metrics for Quality, Schedule, Cost and Productivity.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university with 5 Years of engineering experience; OR Master's Degree with 3 Years of engineering experience
  • At least 3 years of proven demonstrated experience and leadership leading a technical team or project
  • Experience within the Aerospace and/or Defense industry processes and standards 
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret Clearance or SCI access. 


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master of Science degree within a technical engineering field.
  • Experience providing technical product support to a customer or a business.
  • Experience establishing goal driven deadlines.
  • Experience supporting design, MRR, and TRR reviews.
  • Experienced in all aspects of the engineering development lifecycle.
  • Experience in I&T for Satellite products
  • High proficiency in problem solving.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills
  • Skilled at providing presentation briefings to all levels of the business.   


Salary Range: $145,000 USD - $175,560 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
