Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking Spacecraft Systems Engineers to support programs based in Gilbert, Arizona.

Spacecraft Systems Engineers are key members of a cross-disciplinary team helping drive the design, development, integration & test, launch, and on-orbit operations of complex space systems and capabilities. As a Spacecraft Systems Engineer, you will have unique opportunities to witness and take part in the entire engineering lifecycle culminating in the on-orbit delivery of fully mission capable space vehicles to our customers!  Come join our team and help us keep pushing the boundaries of what is possible.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Support program technical execution in accordance with Northrop Grumman Systems Engineering processes and best practices

  • Perform technical planning and analyses at all levels of total system product to include concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance, and disposal

  • Assist requirements development, allocation, and interface definition efforts

  • As the system design matures & evolves, utilize different tools and databases to keep technical artifacts up to date and help ensure the technical baseline is maintained

  • Play a key role in major program milestone and readiness reviews

  • Author and provide input to program data products and other vital deliverables

  • Help support critical test campaigns designed to exercise spacecraft functionality, measure performance, and verify survivability in the extreme launch and space environments

  • Lead by example and be willing to mentor, coach, train, guide, direct and advise teammates

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline with at least 2 years of experience or a master’s degree

  • Must have U.S. Citizenship with active DoD Secret clearance

  • This position can be filled at a level higher with a bachelor’s degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 5+ years of engineering experience OR Master’s Degree in a STEM discipline and 3+ years of engineering experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in engineering, physics, or computer science

  • Active DoD Top Secret clearance with the ability to obtain SCI

  • Experience working on spacecraft or aircraft systems

  • Experience in systems engineering to include architectural studies, technical baseline definition, requirements & interface management, hardware/software integration, and test planning & execution

  • Experience with various technical tools such as MATLAB, STK, CORE, DOORS, or CAMEO

  • Experience in any of the following areas is also desired: orbital mechanics, orbital debris modeling, spacecraft attitude control, power systems and modeling, avionics or digital electronics design, risk analysis, optics, communications , rocket propulsion, thermal engineering, or spacecraft integration and testing

  • Knowledge of Launch Vehicles, System Safety, System Reliability, Contamination Control, EMI, Space Environments (Radiation, Surface Charging, etc.), and Human Factors is also desired

  • Experience and/or training in Earned Value Management Systems

Salary Range: $73,400 USD - $110,000 USD
Salary Range 2: $90,400 USD - $135,600 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
