Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking Verification & Validation (V&V) Spacecraft Systems Engineers to support programs in Gilbert, AZ.

The selected candidates will be members of a multidisciplinary team of engineers responsible for the definition, planning, and execution of methodologies to verify and validate system requirements. While driving the V&V effort will be the primary responsibility, the selected candidates will also be asked to lead or assist in other systems engineering activities throughout the program lifecycle in support of the common goal of delivering a fully mission capable spacecraft to our customers. Job Responsibilities:

  • Support program technical execution in accordance with Northrop Grumman Systems Engineering processes and best practices

  • Develop verification and validation strategies that help minimize program cost and technical risk

  • Define verification methods, events, and constraints for all requirements; develop and manage the overall Program Verification Plan.

  • Perform trade studies and analyses in support of system design and manufacturability to help ensure the as-built system will comply with program requirements

  • Provide technical oversight to assembly, integration & test (AI&T) efforts to ensure that the overall AI&T program will adequately confirm requirement compliance.

  • Design validation approaches to ensure the system fulfills its operational objectives and stake-holder requirements in its intended operational setting; develop and manage the overall Program Validation Plan.

  • Work with customer and program leadership to coordinate, schedule, and ensure readiness to perform verification & validation events

  • Execute verification & validation actions and analyze results against established criteria to determine if the article being examined is compliant

  • Utilize systems engineering database tools and software to manage V&V results and artifacts in accordance with contractual requirements

  • Support final system sell-off of the completed verification and validation program to the customer.

  • Lead by example and be willing to mentor, coach, train, guide, direct and advise teammates

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline with at least 5 years of experience or a master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of experience

  • Must have U.S. Citizenship with active DoD Top Secret clearance with the ability to obtain higher lever clearances

  • This position can be filled at a level higher with a Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 9+ years of engineering experience OR Master’s Degree in a STEM discipline and 7+ years of engineering experience
     

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in engineering, physics, or computer science

  • Active DoD Top Secret clearance with the ability to obtain SCI

  • Possess strong leadership qualities, as well as strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Experience working on spacecraft or aircraft systems

  • Experience in system architecture, CONOPs development, or model-based system engineering

  • Experience with various technical tools such as MATLAB, STK, CORE, DOORS, or CAMEO

  • Experience in any of the following areas is also desired:  orbital mechanics, orbital debris modeling, spacecraft attitude control, power systems and modeling, avionics or digital electronics design, risk analysis, optics, communications, rocket propulsion, thermal engineering, or spacecraft integration and testing

  • Experience with Mission Operations for spacecraft

  • Knowledge of, System Safety, System Reliability, Contamination Control, EMI, Space Environments (Radiation, Surface Charging, etc.), and Human Factors is also desired

Salary Range: $90,400 USD - $135,600 USD
Salary Range 2: $112,000 USD - $168,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
