Northrop Grumman Defense Systems sector (NGDS) is seeking a Principal Cloud Systems Engineer to join our growing team of diverse professionals in Manhattan Beach, California.  The selected candidate will take a leading role in migrating legacy applications to the cloud and work with our engineering team to develop, implement, optimize, and maintain native cloud-based solutions in accordance with best practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Supports standup of Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment pipeline
  • Provides guidance and educates teams on the implementation of new cloud technologies and initiatives
  • Reviews existing systems and makes recommendations for improvements
  • Ensures performance capabilities and security of new systems and architectures are consistent with mission requirements
  • Communicates effectively with small technical teams
  • Prioritizes and adjusts tasks to accomplish project results
  • Comprehends and analyzes complex problems and develops solutions

Basic Qualifications:

  • One of the following:
    • Bachelor’s degree in a technical engineering or related discipline with a minimum of 5 years of relevant engineering experience
    • Master’s degree in a technical engineering or related discipline with a minimum of 3 years of relevant engineering experience
  • Must have an active U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance investigated within the past 5 years
  • Experience with cloud hosting and the migration of legacy systems to a cloud environment
  • Experience designing, deploying and administering cloud-based solutions
  • Experience with Azure Cloud infrastructure technology
  • Knowledge of containerization, including Docker and Kubernetes
  • Knowledge of software configuration management tools such as: Git and Jira
  • Experience working in Agile software development environment
  • Experience in Systems Engineering, e.g., CONOPS development, requirements analysis, decomposition and allocation, interface definition, and trade studies
  • Ability to work on-site in Manhattan Beach, California

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience/exposure to Infrastructure as Code (Iac) development and administration, developing or using tools such as Terraforn, YAML, Ansible, Cloudformation, or equivalent
  • Experience working within complex or high security environments
  • Experience with DevSecOps service/system delivery model
  • DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification or greater (e.g., Security+)
  • Cloud Service Provider certification(s) such as Azure (Solutions Architect, Developer, Administration, DevOps, Cloud Security) a plus
    • Experience with MBSE Tools
    • Experience in scripting/programming languages such as Python, PowerShell, Visual Basic, .Net, Java, C, and C#

Salary Range: $104,600 USD - $157,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
